Q. I tookmy pet to Petco he had a urine analysis they said his blood count washigh that was protein in his urine and I think signs of bacteria black poop

Answered By

A. Have the vet collect a sterile urine sample for a culture and sensitivity panel. If there is a UTI, the C&S should identify the bacteria responsible as well as the most effective antibiotic to use in treatment. GI bleeding, which may cause dark stool, should be ruled out. Consider feeding a bland, easily digestible diet until the stool is normal.
