Q. My 3yr Maltese will not potty, eat, drink, interact, shivers and smells after given bath. This is 3 days after vet visit for anal gland abscess, Help!

Answered By

A. Recheck with your vet if there has been no improvement in spite of treatment (antibiotics and pain management). If there was no treatment, recheck and have treatment initiated. Supportive care may be required until she is feeling better. Offer small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Feed a bland diet (1:1 ratio of plain boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice). Serve warm or mix in a teaspoon or two of baby food to stimulate the appetite.
