Q. My dog is a bit lathargic, going up the stairs slowly and not seeming to want to go outside to relieve himself. Urine is dark yellow/orange. UTI?

Answered By

A. He should be seen by your veterinarian. A sterile urine sample should be collected for urinalysis and culture. Blood work ( CBC, chemistry panel, thyroid panel) should also be done to assess major organ function. The orange urine could be infection but it may also be due to liver disease. Check your dog's eyes, gums and skin for a yellowish tinge. This can also signify liver disease.
