Q. I'd like some advice on whether to take my cat in tonight or if it's ok to wait until morning. He has chronic kidney disease and is not eating.

Answered By

A. He should be seen tonight. Bloodwork should be submitted to check his kidney function. He may require hospitalization and IV fluids for diuresis and other medications if his kidney enzymes are high. Dehydration is also a concern in an anorexic cat which can cause an electrolyte imbalance and further complicate his condition.
