Q. I have a 10yr old St Bernard with arthritis; she recently started showing increased signs of pain. Our local vet is weeks away, what can I do?

Answered By

A. Restrict her activity to just leash walks to eliminate. Avoid excessive running, jumping or playing. Provide additional support using a large towel under her abdomen if necessary. Consider a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement and keep her lean (not overweight). Do not give any medications to your pet without the advice of your veterinarian or a veterinarian if yours is unavailable..
