Q. What would you think a dog with very swollen lymph nodes, crusty sores and lesions all over would have? Cancer or tick born illness?

Answered By

A. If the sores are infected, that may cause the LNs to be swollen. Have your veterinarian perform a needle aspirate biopsy of several LNs and submit the samples for pathology. That may differentiate between neoplasia (cancer) and inflammation/infection. A tick borne disease panel should also be submitted to a reference lab.
