A. Have her seen by your vet. To rule out or confirm UTI, have your vet collect a sterile urine sample for urinalysis and culture/sensitivity. This may identify the bacteria responsible as well as the most effective antibiotic to use for treatment. Blood work should be able to diagnose kidney disease or diabetes. Urinary incontinence should also be ruled out. A quality glucosamine/chondroitin supplement such as Cosequin or Dasuquin should be used. Keep her lean, support her when walking if necessary and consider alternative therapies such as acupuncture or cold laser therapy.
