A. Recheck with your veterinarian. Lab work should be submitted to assess major organ function and to rule out systemic infection or disease. A stool sample should be submitted to rule out bacterial overgrowth. If you are in the US, Texas A&M University has a GI Lab for pets that will assess GI function. Samples of blood and stool can be submitted by your vet to diagnose metabolic or malabsorption issues. Follow th elink for more information.

A. If diarrhea is involved IBD would be my main suspicion. This is an auto immune disease which is treated with steroids and is very difficult to diagnose. If there is no loose stools I would recommend doing an Xray as a foreign body in the stomach could also cause that. Bear in mind at that age an internal tumor is also a very possible scenario.
