Q. Due to her fussy eating habits,my 6 month old Dogue de Bordeaux doesnt eat food at all... What could possibly be the cause for this and remedies?

Answered By

A. Picky eaters are created, not born. Choose one high quality large breed puppy food and stick with it. Begin a strict schedule for feeding. You can mix in some warm water or a teaspoon of baby food to stimulate the appetite. Place the food down at mealtimes and leave it for 20 minutes. Pick it up afterwards whether she has eaten or not. Do not offer any food again until the next scheduled mealtime. Do not offer any other food or treats at mealtime or in between meal times until she is eating regularly. Fresh water should be available at all times. Monitor for GI upset, lethargy or excessive drooling. If the appetite does not return, see your vet for a complete physical exam.
