Q. My cat has dry skin on her back especially near her tail. Is there anything I can do to help this at home like baby oil?

Answered By

A. Anything you apply topically will likely be ingested when she grooms. This puts her at risk of GI upset or worse. Baby oil would not be recommended. Instead, consider adding an essential fatty acid supplement (usually a fish oil) to her diet to promote healthy skin and coat. Search www.pet360.com for fish oil supplements. Brush her to prevent matting. Rule out external parasites, infection or allergies.
