Q. We've had our rescue beagle for 18 months now. She was 6-7 months old when we got here. She still cowers and ducks her head when approached.

Answered By

A. Some dogs are more submissive than others. Rescued pets sometimes have a checkered past which can affect them for years. Since you know what sets her off, speak softly and move slowly when approaching her. Calming pheromone collars or sprays may be effective in decreasing her anxiety. Search www.pet360.com for pheromone products.
