Q. My 14 yr old female spaniel had an anal sac removed and now has a tumor pushing on her rectum, which leads to difficulty in pooping. What to feed?

Answered By

A. Consider a recheck with your vet or a consult with a veterinary oncologist to determine the nature of the tumor. Feed an easily digestible, high quality diet. Less fillers and preservatives will mean less stool that should pass easy. Monitor the mass and see your vet if the dog begins to strain without passing stool or if she loses her appetite, becomes lethargic or begins to vomit.
