Q. My dog has laceration right above his eye, on eyelid.Seems kind of deep. What is safe 2 use 2 clean & care 4 the wound since it's so close 2 the eye?

Answered By

A. If the laceration is deep, I worry about the ability of it to heal naturally. You may want to consult with a vet who can decide whether the wound needs to be sutured. In the meantime, you can flush the area with a bit of artificial tears or saline. I would not recommend applying anything topical to the wound as it may get into the eye. Any sign of infection needs to be addressed by a veterinarian.
