Q. My 13 y.o. Japanese Chin has enlarged heart, no fluid. He is coughing a lot during hours 4-7am. What would another echocardiogram show ?

Answered By

A. If you dog had an echo done recently another scan could show progression of disease (or lack of progression). It may not change the way your dog is being treated. If your dog does not have fluid build up in his lungs and is still coughing you can ask your vet to prescribe medications (for example butorphanol) to suppress the unproductive cough.
