Q. My Great Dane has developed a runny nose with green mucous. She occasionally tries to clear her throat and sounds congested. Her only med is carprofen

Answered By

A. Green discharge from the nose strongly suggest bacterial infection. If your dog is not on antibiotics you should take to your vet about it. Carprofen is an anti-inflammatory / pain killer agent only. I hope your dog has been vaccinated ? Green nasal discharge may mean beginning of Distemper which is serious. If she has been vaccinated then she is fully protected from this serious condtions
