Q. Will mineral oil hurt my dog for slight constipation? He is seven.

Answered By

A. Mineral oil in small amounts can help with constipation, however other products such as pureed pumpkin or adding a little plain yogurt to the diet may help with lesser digestive upset. Pureed pumpkin helps to add fiber to the diet, which can help in minor constipation. Plain yogurt works as a natural probiotic source and can help seed the gut with good bacteria, making digestion a little easier.

If your dog continues to have minor constipation, a wellness exam with your vet is best- they can recommend possible diet changes or other products that can safely get the guts moving.
