Q. My kitty has little hard skin bumps on his back by his tail he's had them for years. Also today I noticed one of his front claws is peeling (no pain)

A. If the bumps have not been itchy or bothersome, it is best to just keep an eye on them and monitor for any change (such as changes in size, redness, itchiness, etc) which may indicate something more serious is happening. Cat nails may also peel at times as they grow in layers, and so will peel off an outer layer every so often as the nail grows. If the nail becomes painful or has discharge from the growth site, then it may indicate a nail bed infection has taken hold. If you are concerned about any of these issues on your cat, then scheduling a wellness exam with your veterinarian is always a good way for some peace of mind.
