Q. 8 year old Doberman with multiple lipomas getting worse after 7 days metronidazole 500mg for possible intestinal parasite stool has gotten better why?

Answered By

A. It is hard to answer your question without a definition of what "getting worse" entails. If your dog is not doing well while on medication it is best to contact your veterinarian and alert them to the symptom changes you've seen. Your vet can then suggest additional testing (such as looking at the stool again) or a change in medication to see if that helps. If it is the lipomas worsening such as growing rapidly or more appearing, then it is best to have them examined or a sample taken to send to a lab.
