A. If you are seeing wounding and pus from the area it is possible your dog may have a bit of a skin infection going on. Having your vet take a look is a good idea as well as preventing him from licking or chewing at the area with the use of an Elizabethan (cone) collar or T-shirt to prevent introducing more bacteria to the spot. Treatment usually involves bathing with a medicated shampoo or a round of oral antibiotics.
