Q. My dog hurt his thumb nail. It bled at first but stopped quickly and looks fine. He is licking it to clean it but I'm wondering if I should cover it?

A. You may want to consider putting an E collar on your dog so he will stop licking at it. Otherwise, it may take longer to heal. Otherwise, trying a fitted first aid dog shoe/boot for the same concept can help.

A. You should stop him from licking the nail as the area will become inflamed or even infected. You can bandage the leg up or put a head collar on your dog.
