Q. My dog has developed eye crust on his eye. Is it pink eye? How do I treat it?

Answered By

A. Unfortunately it could be one of a number of things including infection, irritation or even a corneal ulcer. If it has been going on a whole with no improvement he needs to see a vet, but if it just started today you could try bathing the eye in cotton wool soaked in saltwater solution (1 tsp in a mug of boiled water left to cool). If no improvement in 24 hours it's time to call the vet - problems with eyes can deteriorate very quickly without the correct treatment.
