Q. My Pitbull has hot spots on her back paws! She licks her back paws till she has open legions in between her toes! What's the best for hot spots!!!!!!

Answered By

A. Hot spots are not caused by self trauma but they are localised skin infections. If the skin is just red and inflamed it could be allergy, malassetia (a yeast that can overgrow on skin), parasites or secondary to anxiety or boredom. You can bathe her paws in salty water as home remedy but you will need to have your vet to look at her paws for proper diagnosis.
