Q. My 7 1/2 year old Male neutered Keeshond's eye is weeping and the lid is slightly closed at times. He seems fine and his normal self otherwise?

A. It needs examination to find out exactly what is causing the problem. You can try rinsing it with water or hyoptic in case there is something stuck in it but if this doesn't work it needs looking at with an opthalmascope. It could be an infection, ulcer or trauma. Don't put anything else in the eye before it has been looked at as some treatments especially if steroids are in them can have a detrimental effect. Eye problems shouldn't be left too long without treatment as some conditions can cause irreversible damage.
