Q. My cat has black dandruff like stuff in his tail fur, no oter areas. It is not fleas. Is there something else that would cause this?

Answered By

A. Are you sure it isn't flea dirt.... Fleas suck blood and so their 'feces' appear as black specks as they are dried blood. Try putting some of this dandruff on a piece of white paper and with a damp finger rub the specks into the paper. If they go a red color then fleas are the problem. You will need to get an effective flea treatment from your vet. If not you will need to see the vet to find out what is causing it.
