Q. Any tips or suggestions about dog insurance? I'm not sure if I should get one.

Answered By

A. I suggest you go for it. If a serious condition strikes, you will definitely be grateful you made the decision.

That said, my main suggestion is that you make sure you get one with lifetime coverage, rather than just a few months per condition. The main reason being that if your dog gets a heart problem or diabetes, treatments can become very expensive in the long run.

Also check excesses. Try and get one with a fixed excess, rather than one that has a fixed and then 10-20% of the bill on top.
