This place is amazing. They push away an animal in need. This is a "NO KILL" shelter, which is truly amazing in itself. Animals deserve a life, regardless of their circumstances and they give them that chance.

There are over 200 cats and kittens at the shelter...PLEASE ADOPT!

  • 6. This is a great no-kill shelter

    by: BattleCats

We visited this shelter after hearing on the news that it was no kill. What a great place it is! The cats all seemed very happy! It's crazy to me that the Erie County SPCA is a kill shelter and gets millions of dollars a year while this great little place functions so well with so little. I wish more people knew how wonderful it is. Thanks for all your hard work!

    Pros

They to great with what they have

    Cons

    Need more money

  • 7. Loving, Forever homes only!

    by: Rosiesmommy

Sue and her volunteers care so much for these animals and it is heartwarming to know that they only allow animals to go to the best homes possible. Sue may be picky about who can adopt pets from the shelter but this is such a good thing, because a new pet is a new family member and a lot of work. If Sue doesn't think it's a good match, then it probably isn't, and making sure pets end up in a happy and healthy, loving, forever home is her priority.

    Pros

Kitties are allowed to play with each other, rather than being caged up all day

    Cons

Cramped and in need of a makeover

  • 8. they do amazing work!

  • 21. Wyoming county is a great shelter

    by: judyjean

This shelter takes care of a amazing amount of animals for the resources available. It truly is a no kill shelter unlike some who claim to be but in fact move animals to other places or find excuses to euthanize. I have been a active volunteer for over four years and have great admiration for the people involved in keeping it all running. The staff is very careful to try and find safe homes for the animals. This sometimes puts peoples noses out of joint when they are rejected. Some examples of justly rejected adopters which I have heard: "My dog killed my last cat.", "my last five were killed on the road", "no I don't want to pay for a kitten", "I want a girl cat to breed with my boy cat". I could go onbut luckily there are many more good homes found. All of my 6 children came from this shelterand I am so grateful to Wyoming Co. for them. At a typical shelter most of my cats would not have been saved. One is quite old, one was sickly (now very healthy). I also have a mother and two of her sons who were born c-section, she was young and small and her kittens too big! The boys are big beautiful teenagers and their mother is a little sweetie. Many shelters would not have spent the money to save them all. I dream of a shelter makeover for Wyoming County SPCA. I am certain there is no more deserving a place!.

    Pros

They truly care and do alot with a little

    Cons

They are in need of a better facility

  • 22. Shelter manager works hard

    Cons

    Need more help

  • 23. Help needs to on it's way

    by: pickendaisies

The shelter is in dire need of any kind of help, the people there are so sincere.

    Pros

To many to list, caring, loving, dedicated!

    Cons

    Too small......

  • 24. Just wonderful

    by: pickendaisies

Recently adopted a dog from this shelter, she is a border colllie that was rescued with her pups. We drove a hour to get to the shelter from our house, and it was worth every bit plus some. We found online that they were in desperate need of many items so the night before the trip my husband and I went shopping for some essentials for the shelter.\r\nSince this shelter is a no kill shelter, with no extra funding I found a small but very clean building with individuals dedicated on keeping care of every kitten and cat with the utmost attention. \r\n\r\nWhile I waited to make sure my dog would get along with my "Daisy", I felt desperate to help these people along with every animal that was in there. I visit and donate to many different animal organizations but I have never seen the desperate need in such a place. I have also never seen such people so dedicated. Bless this shelter, the people working there, and my new Daisy.

    Pros

Very caring, very informative and dedicated!

    Cons

    too small, almost pitiful

  • 25. An awesome NO KILL shelter

    by: luckyskunk22

While the shelter is a bit crowded they are always willing to accept more pets. I was unable to keep my two kittens as I was moving to a place where I could not take them with me. The shelter was more than accommodating making sure that my two kitties were well taken care of. When I arrived, they began taking care of them immediately. Each pet in the place was well taken care of and just waiting for a new family to adopt them. Information was taken about my two kitties to ensure they would be treated similarly as I had and called the same name. I really appreciated the effort put in by all the staff to ensure that all the animals there received love and attention. If I am ever able to get another pet, I will definitely look up the Wyoming County SPCA. There are so many pets that just need a home. I hope to make one part of my family again as soon as I am in a better location to do so. Each person should support the SPCA. The staff does a wonderful job to ensure all animals feel right at home. Great job guys!

    Pros

NO KILL shelter, friendly accommodating staff

    Cons

    Space is limited

this shelter goes above and beyond helping animals, they take animals from Wyoming county, Genesee county, Livingston county, Erie county. If an animal shows up because it is a no-kill, it usually stays.

  • 40. In serious need.

    by: brokkenwing

With more space this shelter could be amazing. As is, it needs a little bit of work, but kudos to the care provided for all of these animals. If you're looking to adopt in the area, the animals here are wonderful. They are all lovely and would make perfect additions to any home.

    Pros

They are full of love for these animals, a no kill shelter with almsot 300 cats is quite alot to deal with every day.

    Cons

There is clearly not enough space for all the animals. They really require much more room.

  • 41. no-kill animal shelter

    by: wcspca1

The Wyoming County SPCA takes good care of the cats and dogs that they have in their facility. They try to place each animal in loving homes. While they are in our "custody" they receive all the love and attention that is possible from the employee's while they are cleaning. We try to encourage people to just come and walk the dogs and socialize to help them become more adoptable. This is a good place for any animal to be at, they have a chance at "LIFE"

    Pros

the animals are safe while they are in the care of the Wyoming County SPCA

    Cons

There are not enough adopters for them

    by: Polla

I am in awe of the dedication and kindness of the woman who runs this shelter. Operating on a shoestring, she does whatever necessary to provide a safe haven for these little, down-and-out creatures. My fondest dream is to win the lottery and refurbish the place. If anyone reading this has any idea how to help, please do so!

The most dedicated animal-person EVER runs this shelter!

    Cons

  • 45. PLEASE HELP ALL YOU CAN!!

    by: KathiW

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK FOLKS!!!\r\nThe staff here really care about their charges. The shelter is there for the animals first, and people second. I adopted two beautiful felines from their old shelter 8 years ago. Funding for this no kill shelter runs month to month almost. They need all the volunteers they can get, just to come and socialize the animals. You get such a wonderful feeling when you walk into the cat room. Hundreds of feline eyes are upon you, and you become the center of attention. It's hard to say no to anyone who rubs against you wanting to be cuddled. If cats aren't your thing, there are always dogs to be walked. There are many ways you can help the shelter. Fundraising can be as simple as collecting your papers and bringing them to their recycle bin, rather than trashing them! They also recycle celluar phones, toner cartridges. You can shop online and benefit them as well - just register with IGive.com, and choose them as your charity of choice. It costs you nothing, and you can find some great bargains! Even searching the net can bring them funds. There are so many great ways to help out. All you need to do is check out their website for more information... www.wcspca.net

This is a no kill shelter......no animal is turned away.\r\nWe need more room.........better equipment.........an in house vet.......help from all the people in Wyoming County.\r\nThe best thing you could give would be to have your dog or cat spayed or neutered ASAP and stop the numbers of these poor animals coming to the shelter.\r\nWilpam
