I have been going to Whiskerville for several years to get flea and tick meds. and heart worm meds. They are really caring and helpful. I love visiting with their cats and if I ever want another one that is where I will go to get it. We have four now but when we are ready for another I will got to Whiskerville. We also got our dogs micro-chipped at Whiskerville several years ago. Wish they did horses I would haul them over there and have it done.

    Pros

    They Really Care

    Cons

    none

Whiskerville started out fighting against the county, the city, the neighbors and the local newspaper in their attempts to start a shelter. They stayed the course, eventually earning the respect of those around her. Great story and a great lady.

    Pros

    Great goals

    Cons

    none

It was a hard start for this shelter, with what seemed like most of the city fathers against her, but she succeeded and has done an excellent job.

    Pros

    Professional and worthy

    Cons

  • 7. Whiskerville? More like Awesomeville!

    by: mycatslinky

Whiskerville is THE ONLY NO-KILL ANIMAL SHELTER IN THE GREATER HOUSTON AREA! This is a great organization to volunteer/be affiliated with. Wydell and her awesome team of volunteers work so hard to rescue these animals and provide pet owners with affordable care and services.\r\n\r\nThey are completely non-profit and need local community support and fosters. Visit the website for business hours and adoption profiles and stop by sometime!

    Pros

    One-of-a-kind care

    Cons

Should be receiving way more local support!

Love my Lexi Grace! I adopted her in July of '07 and she has us wrapped around her paw. She is doing great! She gets along with the other animals ,yes the cats too, kids and people in general. She loves attention! \r\n\r\nWhiskerville was great! The transition was easy. I was given great information on Lexi, they really knew her. I highly recommend them! They love their animals. \r\n

    Pros

Very helpful. Full knowledge of the animals.

    Cons

none that i can think of.

  • 9. Best Sanctuary in Texas!

    by: Nettie2468

If you have never been to Whiskerville Animal Sanctuary in Texas City, you really need to go. This is a one of a kind organization that truly puts its entire heart into the job! The work done there can only be accomplished through dedication, hardwork, and donations!\r\nSo, go over to Whiskerville- pet the kitties, check out the "Catnip Castle", buy some flea control and heartworm prevention, and drop some money in the donation jar. I promise, you will not be diappointed!

    Pros

Great animals that have everything done for them looking for homes, great prices on pet supplies!

    Cons

Only open on Friday & 1st & 3rd Saturdays- but you can change that by donating. When there are enough funds, Whiskerville can have regular business hours!
