Dr. Britt has been a blessing to our german sheperds. She was the one who was able to diagnose Scout as have EPI, and provide a treatment approach to manage it consistently. The hours that you provide has given us the opportunity to avoid missing work, while still seeing that our pets get excellent healthcare.

Webster is less expensive than the emergency clinic and is open late so is a good alternative. I have only taken my animals there during emergencies. I have had good experiences there and not so good ones. The vets were great but the desk staff and techs not so much. Twice however, I have gone in with injured animals that I have simply found and had a more positive experience with the staff, they were actually kind and helpful those times.\r\n

    Pros

    Open late

    Cons

Some of the staff lack "bedside manner"

  • 3. Sadie had a great time!

    by: notperfect5

The lines were long, but I was impatient to get my pup back. SO, I think they did a great job at managing the line and being helpful in a fair way. My puppy received her first dental treatment and was put under and had a nights stay. I was nervous for her, but she came home and just slept. They are professionals who know how to treat the animals. My dog didnt have an upset tummy or anything. I was given very clear instructions about how to care for the dog after her treatment, written instructions (in case I forgot) and an emergency phone number if something went wrong. The staff was great--despite being overloaded with pets and people in the waiting room.\r\n\r\n

    Pros

Dog was happy and was treated well, staff was helpful

    Cons

Super busy after 5pm, lines at front desk

    by: teckelfrau

I have been using WGAH since 2002, and have had superior care from the staff veterinarians from day one. My husband and I initially started going to WGAH because we both work odd hours, and it was difficult for us to schedule midday veterinary appointments. Since WGAH is open 6 a.m. - 2 a.m. most days, we really couldn't go wrong. Right now, my primary veterinarian is Dr. Ailien Britt, and she is extremely attentive and forward-thinking. I have also seen Dr. Bedow several times, and he diagnosed and treated a difficult eye condition in one of my dogs.\r\n\r\nSomething I have really appreciated about Dr. Britt's care in particular is that she follows up thoroughly when we are pursuing a treatment plan. For example, I have one dog with difficult allergy issues, and she not only called several times to see how the treatment was going, but also did research on her own time to find out if there was a more effective plan of action for my dog's particular symptoms. \r\n\r\nI also like that, in my experience, the vets at WGAH are not afraid to refer a client on to a specialist when they think a problem is beyond their scope of capability. The vets' willingness to refer onto specialists has saved me money and time, and more importantly, spared my dogs ineffective treatments and unnecessary suffering.\r\n\r\nOne caveat: WGAH apparently has a pretty stringent non-compete clause for their vets, and occasionally a vet will leave without forwarding information (the doctors are not allowed to move clients to their new practices). If you get a vet at WGAH you really, really like, make sure you have at least an email address or a secondary way to contact her/him, in case s/he moves onto a new practice.

    Pros

Excellent, progressive veterinarians, moderate cost, state of the art facility.

    Cons

Unless clients specify a particular veterinarian, clients are randomly assigned to vets. Some vets are somewhat "test happy," and the bills can get expensive.

  • 6. WGAH is the best!

    by: evans8650

I've taken all of my pets there since I can remember and will never change. The staff's love of animals and caring nature is very apparent, and I feel at ease knowing that my dogs are in good hands. Their hours are phenomenal as well.

    Pros

    Staff, hours, one-stop shop

    Cons

    none

  • 7. Emergency Hours are Useful

    by: cherries33

When my foster dog was sick in the middle of the night I was happy they were open and not too far away. But the people don't seem very friendly. There's usually a wait which I don't understand since my normal vet doesn't make appointments and there is almost never a wait. \n\nI don't think they keep records on rescue dogs because every visit seems like the first time & everything needs to be explained from the start. \n\nSome vets were sort of kind & knowledgeable. But one guy was very brusk with my deaf, semi-blind and very nervous foster dog. The dog got very defensive and the vet made a crack along the lines of 'good luck adopting that one out'. Rude and not very good beside manner with the poor old dog. I liked the dog far better than that vet.\n\nIf my dogs had an emergency I'd want to go to someone who seemed to care if she lived or died.

    Pros

    Emergency hours

    Cons

    Pretty impersonal

  • 8. Love it

    by: jbean

We got out dog about a year ago and took him here because it was close. I absolutely love it. I love that I can get an appt without any problems, and all of the staff is so friendly.

    Pros

    Cons

    haven't found any yet

  • 9. Help in a hard time

    by: tekotthoff

When my cat got extremely sick with kidney failure, I took her to this emergency hospital. She was in the hospital for almost 4 days. 2 of the doctors I had over those days were somewhat uncaring. The other 2 went above and beyond the call of duty and were extremely caring in helping me decide what was best for my cat. When the decision was made to euthanize, the doctor that performed the procedure let me hold her for the final moments and was extremely supportive. \n\nIt may depend on which doctor you get, but WGAH has some extremely gifted people on its team.

    Pros

    Some doctors extremely helpful

    Cons

    Some doctors uncaring.

    Cons

  • 11. Wonderful!

    by: Janboys

We have adopted 3 dogs in the past 3 years, our first one just needed the general needs taken care of but being our first it was nice to have a staff that walked us through what is needed.\n\nOur second dog we adopted because he had special needs (missing a eye, extensive medical before 16 weeks, runt of litter, and parents died before he was 6 weeks old). We fell in love with him and drove 10 hours for our adoption. When we realized he also had a broken hip after we got him settled in at our home - Webster Groves Vets took such good care of him! Even put his X-ray on CD so I could show my husband what was going on. They let us pay in 3 installment since the surgery was around $1000. Now he is good as new (outside of the really cold days that make his hip achy). He runs, plays and jumps just like his brothers!\n\nOur newest edition decided to take off a day or so after we adopted him and he had not learned his new name yet (he was an unclaimed stray - no one knew his name) and I called the office and they took his information and made sure to keep an eye out for him. Luckily we found him that day at a local school!\n\nThe staff is great and love the animals - one staff member even got a dog very similar to ours after she met our 1st do - I still ask for updates on her dog!

  • 12. Okay for emergencies

    by: aferanec

I took my shar-pei to this clinic a few years ago and was not impressed with the services. It just feels very impersonal, and you feel like the vet won't remember you the next time they see you because there are so many people in and out. But it is good to have a full service animal hospital with late hours in the area, so I'd take my dogs there if there was ever an emergency.

    Pros

    Open late

    Cons

Too impersonal, not very friendly staff

  • 14. Emergency Clinic in Times of Need

    by: vollmerj

It is good to know that an emergency clinic exists and is close to our home. We had a need for it a couple years ago when our dog ate three giant bars of european dark chocolate we brought back from a vacation. They did a better job than our vet at the time (we have since changed vets) and took good care of our Sam. We are thankful they exist and are less than 20 minutes away from our home.

    Pros

    24 Hours a Day

    Cons

    Can keep you waiting

  • 15. Love this place

    by: mariew

I have been taking my dog here since I got her in 2006. I love the service that I get there. The staff so so wonderful. I drive an extra 20 min. to do there even though there is a vet about 2 blocks from my house.

    Pros

The staff is great with my animals.

    Cons

They aren't always the fastest at getting back to you when you call and leave a message on the tech line.

  • 16. Mixed feelings/great vet.

    by: CassidyBridges

Webster Groves is where I take my animals. I do like the vets I have dealt with, but the secretarial staff could use some help. Many have been rude and not very considerate. You feel rushed and it is never a good feeling when your dog is sick and they act like you are being a nuisance. Not all of them, but several. I do love Dr. Nack. He was very helpful and took his time in explaining my dogs condition. I greatly appreciated his time.

    Pros

    great vet care

    Cons

    very busy

  • 18. What a great vet!! Highly recommended

    by: dashley2324

I am a first time pet owner of a 3 year old hound dog mix. I found out 3 days after rescuing my pup that she had parvo. I didn't even know what it was at the time. The shelter I adopted her from referred me to Webster Groves. They kept Kami for 3 days, allowed us visitation & competely saved her life. I am forever grateful to them for this. They educated us on the illness & were friendly everytime we called to check on her (which was several times). Since then we have continued to take her to Webster Groves & we love it. They have great hours, the staff is wonderful, and most importantly Kami actually loves going to the vet. Anyone in the St. Louis area should definitely make the drive to Webster Groves. It's totally worth it!!

    Pros

    Hours, staff, cleaniness, professionalism

    Cons

    none

  • 19. the best vet in st louis

    by: nikkiv

My family and I have been going to Webster Animal Hospital for about 8 years now. When I found a stray cat, our vet of 30 years would not give us a break on the cost of a check up, which was about $80 at the time. I called around and Webster was not only half the price, they were going to help me out because it was a stray I was trying to find a home for. I ended up keeping Sassy, and we have been going there ever since. For regular care, or emergencies, the staff is always great. They are friendly, knowledgable, and sympathetic when your pet is sick. I recommend them to everyone.

    Pros

    open 7 days a week until 2am

    Cons

parking lot sometimes difficult to get in and out of

  • 20. Busy But Organized

    by: ravburke

I would say that 95% of the staff are warm, sensitive, and professional. I like that they have so many vets there, and yet you are able to specify which one treats your pet. \r\n\r\nI love the upbeat, happy atmosphere in the waiting room, sometimes I think my dog thinks he's at petsmart, that is until we go in the actual exam room.\r\n\r\nIt is very emotional sometimes when you're sitting next to a customer with a new puppy and then another person runs through the front door carrying their pet that has just been hit by a car. You never what you may see when you're there.\r\n\r\nTheir phone service is pretty bad though. You get put on hold forever and ever.\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Pros

24 hour service. Great atmosphere. Quality care.

    Cons

Horrible phone service. Put on hold and they never come back.

  • 21. professionalism with care

    by: xtrahand

After having 1 abby have terminal kidney failure and another cat go thru multiple surgeries for bladder stones and then fail to recover, i feel the staff here, espically Dr Tate, not only did their best to help our family thru this but gave us all options\r\nupfront with realistic outcome and cost, something I\r\npersonally appriciate. We intend to continue to use them for all our future pet needs.

    Pros

    well prepared, clean, courtious

    Cons

  • 24. I Like This Place

    by: kateswalsh

I like the Webster Groves Animal Hospital. The staff has always been very nice to me and the doctors have provided excellent care to my pets. The clinic has office hours until late into the evening, which makes it easy for me to make an appointment and not miss work (at least for routine stuff). They have listened to every panicky phone call I've ever made and calmed me down, making sure my dogs were ok.\r\n\r\nThey are, I realize, very large. You are not going to get the country vet type person who remembers you. They have a lot of employees so, yes, this is a business and they expect to be paid. They have never, at least with me, had me go through unnecessary tests simply to make money. I have noticed that pet owners, especially when upset, will scream at the vet to do everything possible, no matter what the cost, not realizing that the cost is substantial. They do try to make the person realize what kind of bill will be coming. Like I said, to some it can come across as unfeeling but I'm in a business where I get a similar type of clientele and I understand where they are coming from.\r\n\r\nI like this place a lot and will continue to take my dogs to them.

    Pros

They are always open and have emergency services.

    Cons

It is a very large place so they can come across as unfeeling.

  • 25. Good Hours

    by: beorijinal

I took my animals there for a long time but stopped after I sought a second opinion at another vet. My dog was having problems that they refered me to a specialist for. After going to an expensive specialist and almost getting a liver biopsy on my dog, I got another opinion from another vet. In the end my dog did not need a liver biopsy and the illness ran it's course and my dog is fine now. \r\n\r\nThe vets at Webster Groves are knowledgeable but they seem too big to be very personal. I called the vet who saw my dog to ask a question and never got a call back. Not very good customer service.\r\n\r\nIf you have an emergency or really need the extended hours they have then it might just be the place for you.\r\n\r\nIf you want a vet that cares about you after you leave the clinic, find another vet.

    Pros

    Good hours

    Cons

    a little to impersonal/expensive

  • 26. LOVE them

    by: meganmary

i love this vet and would still use it if i hadn't moved. the vets are very knowledgeable and genuinely care about your pets. they were very helpful in an emergency situation with my dog when he ate some vitamins. they mop the lobby very often so it smells nice and clean. they were also very helpful and caring to my dad's cat when he needed emergency services and eventually had to be put down. excellent vet in every aspect.

    Pros

    late hours and er services

    Cons

    distance from new home

  • 27. Nothing Special

    by: chrisbr

I took my dog to WGAH once for her annual vaccinations because it was close to home and had such great hours. I was hoping to develop a good relationship with one of their vets. I couldn't get an appt to see one of the more experienced vets, and the one who did see my dog performed a VERY brief exam (if you can even call it an exam). Sorry, but I think our pets deserve a more thorough check-up even when they are in apparent good health. I won't go back unless I'm forced to choose between WGAH and the emergency clinic.

    Pros

    Hours of operation

    Cons

    Long Wait, Rushed Exam

Some of their prices are higher then other vet hospitals.

    by: leonaIII

Been taking my dogs there for over 20 years, way before they moved to new building. Never found anyone to be rude. Always clean and caring. We have four pets and all are seen by the same two doctors at Webster Groves. We have had great luck and both doctors are able to discuss any issues that arise with our pets. Making appointments is very easy and we have been very satisfied with the personal service we have received.

  • 34. WGAH every animal's friend

    by: nwesty1

I have been taking my pets to WGAH since I moved here in 1987. The staff have rejoiced with me when a cat with a malignancy on her tail came back without a problem and they have cried with me when my big tabby died at home. I wouldn't take a pet anywhere else.

    Pros

Knowledgeable, kind, generous staff and Vets

    Cons

A little pricey but wouldn't you spend that on your kids?

  • 35. Caring staff

    by: Jessie1881881

This is a wonderful place to take your pet. They are always open and caring til 2am and open at 6am unless its a major hoilday. The staff really cares about your pet and its health. However you can expect to wait if you come here mostly in the evenings because it is one of the only hospitals that is open at night. If you have a problem with waiting then you should go some where else.

    Pros

Open great hours, competitive prices, friendly staff

    Cons

    Busy, busy, Busy

  • 36. Flexible!

    by: JenP

When we got our new puppy, Bailey, we switched from our old vet to WGAH. We've been able to schedule our appointments with the same veternarian, so our puppy is comfortable and knows who is examining her. She loves to go, and when we leave, she turns around and tries to go back! The later hours are perfect for our crazy schedules, and it's comforting to know that if Bailey ever has an emergency, WGAH already has her records on site. I trust them to do a wonderful job with Bailey's health, even though we've only gotten through our first few months with her.\r\n\r\nFriendly staff, knowledgable and friendly doctors, large waiting area, provide training on-site...sometimes though, the wait can be a little long, even though we have an appoinment (but no longer than our old walk-in vet).

    Pros

    hours, staff

    Cons

    long wait

  • 37. Went out of their way.

    by: WuffieGirl

I just recently found a dog running down the street. It was Sunday. I called Webster, they said to come in and they would check the dog for a chip. They found the chip. The chip was registered to Arnold Animal House. They contacted the clinic. The clinic gave them the name of the owner. They then contacted the owner. Happy ending. Doggie was reunited with his owner. Great job Webster.

    Pros

    Very caring

    Cons

  • 39. knowledgeable staff but lacks in personal service

    by: MeganR82

I have mixed feelings about Webster Groves Animal Hospital. The doctors have all been great - very thorough and knowledgeable. I also really like the fact that they are open late. It puts my mind at ease knowing that I could go there in an emergency, even if it's in the middle of the night. In that respect, I can't complain. My pets are all healthy. However, the place is very large and the waiting area is always crowded with people and dogs. My dogs are a bit territorial, and I always have to keep them away from the other dogs, which can be difficult when people are signing forms and not paying attention to their dogs. There has been more than one altercation with my dogs and others. I'm probably more nervous than my dogs when I take them there out of fear they will or another dog will provoke each other. Also, it always takes a long time to drop them off or pick them up when I'm having them boarded. I'm talking 20+ minutes of wait time, which is stressful when I'm hurrying to get out of town. Overall, I'm pleased with the medical attention my pets have received, but I wish it was a little smaller with more personalized attention.

    Pros

My dogs and cat are all healthy!

    Cons

The place is always busy and crowded with dogs -which is bad for dogs like mine who are territorial

Webster Vet hospital saved our kitty after he had an allergic reaction to his shots from his regular vet. It was 11 p.m. when Rocco started breaking out in hives and had a hard time breathing. They were so kind to him and us that we switched his care to them!

    Pros

    long hours

    Cons

  • 41. Good for emergencies

    by: rcahoon

I have made a number of trips to Webster Groves Animal Hospital after midnight, when my pets seem to like to get sick. They are open until 2am and this is very good to know because emergencies do occur (especially on weekends). I also took a stray dog that I had found that day (a pitbull named Roscoe) to Webster Groves Animal Hospital (at midnight) and he was scanned and found to have a microchip. Because he was chipped, he was allowed to spend the night there at the hospital (staff made him very comfy and gave him something to eat). They contacted his owner who picked him up the next day. That was a wonderful service that I really appreciated!

    open until 2am

    more expensive

  • 43. love WGAH!

    by: lcurtis4

I was referred to WGAH by a couple of different friends. Our primary vet is Dr. Balke, who has to be one of the most caring animal-lovers in the world. We just had to put our nearly 20-year old cat to sleep, & Dr. Balke as well as everyone else there was so wonderful through the whole process. Their hours are great for busy people, as you can actually schedule an appointment from very early morning to very very late at night. The only drawback is that at their busier times it can take quite awhile to check out, whether it's after a visit or if just stopping in to purchase food. Overall though, I would say this is an amazing place!

    Pros

fantastic staff, open nearly 24 hours

    Cons

sometimes very long wait to check out

  • 44. Great vet.

    by: rhancock

My family's dogs have gone here since before they moved into the new larger building. Also, Tora (my former stray) got spayed here. Now I take my guinea pigs there to get their nails trimmed.\r\n\r\nThe staff are wonderful. Prices are usually good, sometimes a little higher but you get what you pay for. The long hours are great. I have had longer waits there sometimes but it is usually because of a lot of emergencies--the fact that they are available in case of an emergency makes it worth the wait.

    Pros

    long hours, caring staff

    Cons

long waits and sometimes pricier than average

  • 45. Great vets, great location, great hours!

    by: hancockb

My dogs have gone here every since they were puppies. They have a great annual health plan that I have used for both of my dogs. They see a regular vet that knows them and would notice if something was unusual about them such as a lump. You can tell that they love dogs as much as I do.

    Pros

They have lots of animal loving vets available.

    Cons

None that I can think of..

I brought my cat to Webster Groves Animal Hospital late one night b/c my cat was attacked. They responded immediately, and with the utmost concern. They placed my cat's health as the top priority, as opposed to worrying about how I would pay the bill since I wasn't a regular client. They took excellent care of my cat, and I highly recommend their hospital for emergency care.

    Pros

    Cons

This place is great if you need a facility that is open long hours, The vetenarians are really knowledgable. However, there can be long waits at times and the waiting area can get really crowded.

    Pros

    Vets are really great

    Cons

    wait is often very long

We love Webster Animal Hospital. You can take your dog there almost 22 hours \r\nout of the day. It has been wonderful to be able to take our dog there in emergencies instead of having to find someone who is open. A friend had an emergency with her dog and her vet was closed. We suggested Webster and was so happy with the service she is now taking her dog there. They also have a service where you can just come in and get your dog's nails cut. There are certain hours they do this but you don't have to wait to long. Our dogs have always been well taken care of.

    Pros

    hours are great

    Cons

sometimes the wait is a little long

I highly recommend this clinic. I've been taking my cats there for several years and it's very comforting to know that they are available so late and open 7 days a week! My cats seem to get sick at weird times and this place is always open to take care of them when in need.
