  • 1. Good care, but VERY unreasonable cost!

    by: jm80209

Beware if you're like most people that can't afford to go into possibly $1000's in debt to have your animal cared for. Took puppy in for some lethargic/instability symptoms at 3am...puppy there for 4 hours, got a saline/electrolites iv and blood work...$530! Was at my regular vet for the rest of the day on iv, including vet consultation and exam for $46! This is a major contributing reason for why animals are abandoned and not taken care of, there is no justification for these costs to take care of a pet. I'm giving a 1 rating based on accessibility for the average pet-owner, and taking advantage of people that are willing to pay these kinds of prices because they're concerned for their pets. My pets will never go there again.

    Pros

Professional and Clean, well equipped-and you pay for it!

    Cons

Costs as much as a human emergency room!

  • 2. Nice staff

I took a friends dog here for surgery. The staff was helpful and respectful. They did a great job on the surgery and I would recommend them to others.

    Pros

    staff, medicine

    Cons

    by: KristenBusang

The only times I've been to VRCC is when one of my pets has been in a crisis. My cat jumped off the third story deck late at night and the staff at VRCC was very reassuring and kept me from falling to pieces (Helen the cat is fine but not allowed on the deck). Two days before going on vacation, my Aussie had a reaction to something in her paws and they swelled up to the point that she couldn't walk. Once again VRCC was there in the middle of the night to take care of everything - including me.

    Pros

They are great in a crisis

Dr. Julie Martin along with her staff are amazing. They cared for my Abe-the-Babe (my 15 yr old Kyi-Leo Dog) that just passed away for 3 years. They always said he was like the energizer bunny (he just kept going and going).\r\nAbe always trusted them and never showed them his teeth (as he was a bitter). Animals know!\r\nI would highly recommend the facility to anyone who has a pet with a special health issue. \r\nYou can always count on them for an honest opinion, undivided attention and extra care and phone calls. When the time comes for a new addition to the family, I'll be back.\r\nCyndy Davis\r\nCastle Rock, CO

We had our bulldogs eye lids operated on, along with many of his eye problems taken care of by the eye doctors here. They were very helpful and gave us many choices on what we could do to help our bully.

  • 7. Best Emergency Clinic in Colorado!!!!!

    by: myoungpeter

I took my puppy there when he had some nasal stuff (I won't go into details). It was an insanely crazy Sunday for my family, so I had to take my Baby by myself. Needless to say, I was an emotional wreck. They had to put Ellie under anesthetic to do a simple procedure which sent me over the edge. They were SO comforting and let me cry on their shoulders even though it was such a minor procedure on a healthy dog. When I picked him up, the receptionists were incredibly kind to another man who had just lost his dog - that's when I was convinced that this was a great place. \nMy puppy came through just perfectly with his tail wagging. At VRCC, they know that our pets are our babies and that they are the most important thing in the world to us. So kudos to VRCC! Thank you again for taking care of my pup!

    Pros

Kind staff, new facilities, VERY clean

    Cons

Cost - but in an emergency, it's ok

  • 9. Emergency Vet Hospital in the Greater Denver Area

    by: Katetastic24

Recently my cat became very ill and I knew that I couldn't wait for the morning to take him in to our regular vet clinic. A friend referred us to VRCC in Englewood and immediately I called them. I was nervous about taking him to a place I had never been before and anticipated the worst. However, when we arrived my worries quickly faded away. The building was so clean and bright, and the staff were so gentle with my sick cat. We were there for awhile before the veterinarian came to see us, but that's okay because my cat got some medicine and treatment and was able to get better by weeks end.

    Pros

Overnight emergency vet care, State of the art facilities, Caring staff

    Cons

Very expensive for poor folks like me

  • 10. Amazing cardiology dept.

    by: cjaubz

Assisted with diagnosing my cat with restrictive cardiomyopathy. Staff was patient, took time to explain procedures and results throughly, returned calls promptly and continue to follow up on his case.\r\nWould highly recommend for any cardiology issues.

    Pros

    Great technology, wonderful vets

    Cons

    Possible wait times

  • 11. read the mission statement!

    by: babercvt

VRCC is for two types of people. \r\n\r\nTYPE A - your animal has a problem (or emergency) which is out of your veterinarians scope of practice or hours of operation, you don't know where else to turn and you have access to a few grand. \r\n\r\nTYPE B - you like to boast your wealth, have only pure bred dogs (the more expensive, the better), drive a flashy car and find it highly rewarding to drop a few grand in one day on veterinary expenses. \r\n\r\nVRCC's mission statement talks a big talk on the "human animal bond". Let me translate that for you.... "they profit big from the human animal bond". \r\n\r\nYes. VRCC is a beautiful facility with highly skilled professionals. Another simple fact, there are other specialists and emergency facilities available. Contact the DAVMS for a complete list. Or hey, drive to Ft. Collins or Colorado Springs to save a few thousand dollars... seriously.

    Pros

    cutting edge medical care

    Cons

    EXPENSIVE

  • 12. I love VRCC

    by: Kimdenver

When my dog, Basta, was sick, our regular vet suggested VRCC. In our first appointment, we saw the internal medicine vet. After doing an ultrasound, we discovered Basta had cancer. So we were able to seamlessly make an appointment with the oncologist. The oncologist was very professional yet very compassionate. I felt like we were in good hands with her. We scheduled surgery to remove Basta's kidney and spleen, because he had tumors there. \r\n\r\nUnfortunately, before we could wait a week and have Basta's surgery, he deteriorated. So we saw the neurologist to have an MRI. He, too, was very professional and yet compassionate.\r\n\r\nAlthough the vets were unable to save Basta (the cancer had spread to his spine, where the tumors were inoperable), I appreciated the vets and staff at VRCC. Everyone was very knowledgeable and good. They were also all so compassionate and really understood that we were going through a hard time, and this was our baby boy. It was great to be able to go from department to department and have our records go with us easily. It felt like we had a whole team on our side. \r\n\r\nAt VRCC, they have specialists for practically every condition. I trust the vets there and appreciate their expertise. We have also seen Holly Foster, the acupuncture vet, for our other dog. Holly is amazing and very knowledgeable. I would recommend her to anyone.

    by: DenverDawn

I've been going to VRCC for approximately 8 years now. It all started when my Chi mix, Mr. Pickles, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. We were treated by Dr. Carol Loyer who is fabulous! He performed several state of the art procedures on Pickles, prescribed human heart meds and extended his life by several years. \n\n\n

    Pros

Expertise and loving attitude toward pets

    Cons

  • 14. Southwest Denver emergency veterinarians

    by: MrEd

VRCC has two separate sides to its operation. In addition to the daytme specialty clinics, there's an after-hours emergency center ready to help your pet in the middle of the night.\n\nI've been here a few too many times. Of course, my feeling is that any emergency is already one too many!\n\nBut the care is competent, and they make sure to explain options to you - they know that most of us have trouble handling sudden large bills.\n\nAnd the bill will be larger than you expect, almost guaranteed. But that's usually the case whenever you have an emergency of whatever kind, wherever you go for help.\n\nIt's just a bit more unpleasant here than other clinics I've been to. Maybe veterinary medicine is changing, I don't know.\n\nBut as soon as the medical people have your animal, you're sent to the front desk to give them your credit card or show your checkbook. If you can't cover the estimated cost, they aren't going to make it easy for you.\n\nThe no-kill shelter where I volunteer also uses VRCC (and other emergency clinics) because our staff veterinarians are only on-site during daytime hours.\n\nThere are only a few other options in the Denver area.

    Pros

When you need them, they're there

    Cons

    Expensive

  • 15. Great Specialized Care

    by: zbear11

VRCC houses many specialists in animal care. The great thing about them all being in one place is that they can coordinate your pets care with multiple vets and never have to leave the building. Quality care for your pet.

    Pros

Specialists in many fields all in one place

    Cons

    none

  • 16. Wide range of vet specialists

    by: MrEd

VRCC is one of only a couple of places in the Denver area that can take care of almost any medical need your pet may have. They're just as good as "that other clinic" you see on Animal Planet! ;-)\n\nIn addition to general medicine and surgery, they advertise as doing cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, and ophthalmology.\n\nOkay, they may not hit orthopedic surgery as hard as "that other place." But when one of my dogs needed ACL repair, this is where my general-practice veterinarian referred me.\n\nVRCC is also a 24-hour emergency facility. So if you need to leave your pet here overnight when you bring them in during the day for non-emergency treatment, there will indeed be vets and staff on duty throughout the night.\n\nThe no-kill shelter where I volunteer has its own veterinarians on staff for general medicine, but we also use VRCC (and others).

    Pros

    Covers most specialties

    Cons

    Expensive
