    by: rkohler

It's all about the convenience for me. I can do my shopping AND find and specialty pet supplements I need while there. I have been known to feed my dog a raw diet, in which case I mix some supplements marketed for humans into her food.\n\nBrewer's Yeast\nKelp\nOrganic veggies\n\n\n

    Pros

I can do my shopping too

    Cons

a bit expensive for supplements you CAN find elsewhere

  • 3. Some good pet stuff there

    by: Tatesq

You can get some good pet food brands, like Solid Gold and Wellness at Vitamin Cottage. Love the Solid Gold jerky treats, even though they are crazy expensive!\n\nFor humans, the prepared sandwiches from Udis are SOOOO GOOD!

    Pros

    Some good stuff

    Cons

    Limited selection

    by: MrEd

Vitamin Cottage is a local chain of health-food and supplement stores that's been in business for more than 50 years.\n\nThe main things I buy here are supplements that I can't get at the supermarket such as joint support formula in powder form and fish oil a pint at a time.\n\nIn these forms I can mix them into stinky (wet) foods without having to crush tablets and open up gelcaps.\n\nI also recently bought the central ingredients that are in Proquiet and Proneurozone. The shelter where I volunteer has me giving these to a foster dog.\n\nWhen the bottles from the shelter are empty, I'll see whether plain old L-Tryptophan and Acetyl-L-Carnitine might fill the bill for a little less money due to not being marketed for the animals we'll spend any amounts on! ;-)\n\nVitamin Cottage also has an aisle of pet foods. The only grain-free was Solid Gold's Barking at the Moon until they brought in Diamond's new line of Taste of the Wild formulas.\n\nSo I bought some while I was there last time instead of going to my favorite pet-food store, Wag N Wash.\n\nFinally, Vitamin Cottage also carries some remedy mixtures (such as Rescue Remedy) and usually has a book or two on pet health.\n\nThey sell health food for people, too. But for me, it's all about the aisles and aisles of supplements.

    Pros

Supplements in bulk, remedies, some good-quality pet foods

    Cons

    Higher prices than some places
