  • 1. GREAT VET AND STAFF

    by: DozerzMom

THE VET IS GREAT. HE DID MORE FOR MY PUPPY THEN MY REGULAR VET. I NEEDED A 2ND OPTION FOR MY PUPPY'S SKIN, HE HAD SORES ALL OVER AND WAS DIGGING HIMSELF RAW. MY VET DID NOTHING (HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS WRONG) THIS VET GAVE HIM A SHOT FOR HIS ITCHING AND GAVE HIM MEDS AND MY PUPPY GOT BETTER. THIS PLACE I CAN AFFORD. THEY CHARGE ME 1/3 OF WHAT MY NORMAL VET CHARGES. AND THIS DAY AND AGE I NEED A VET THAT IS A LITTLE CHEAPER. GREAT PLACE

    Pros

VET IS GREAT.......TAKES HIS TIME.....CHEAP TO..

    Cons

    DONT TAKE APPOINTMENTS...

I've come to this shelter for their low cost spay and neuter for both of my cats and two dogs. I find their veterinary services to be great, but I've also come here to look at the animals and see about adopting from them and some of the staff were very bad.\n\nMany of their volunteer workers are very kind individuals who are all about the animals and are all too willing to take you around and show you the dogs. Unfortunately, many of the paid workers who I've seen working directly with management of the stray dogs are quite unknowledgeable and down right mean. They don't care to show you around, they know next to nothing about the dogs, and they're very mean! Many dogs are placed in kennels with dogs twice their size, or aggressive dogs put together with submissive ones that they pick on. I went up to the desk one day to tell them of a large german shepherd picking on a poor golden retriever that just looked terrified. The shepherd wouldn't even let the goldie come up to the front so that we could see him better. They did nothing about it other than say "yes we're aware of that one". Well if you're aware of it, why not do something? During many other incidents while walking around, if dogs in started barking at each other or were just being loud, a man who worked there walked up to the kennels and KICKED the bars while screaming at them to SHUT UP. It was ridiculous! I wouldn't doubt it if some of these dogs became psychologically unadoptable due to the care and treatment they receive by kennel workers there. And these were the dogs picked up as strays! If, god forbid, my dog were to become lost and end up at this shelter, I'd make damn sure to get them out of there ASAP before somebody treated them as horribly as I've witnessed.

    Pros

Low cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinic, great volunteers

    Cons

    Idiotic and mean workers.
