  • 1. Saved Molly's Life

    by: lillianl

During a severe illness, Molly was referred to Dr. Johnson, specializing in internal medicine. After many tests and another near-death episode, Molly was diagnosed with cyclical neutropenia. A routine of antibiotics and predinisone therapy stabilized her condition. Continued monitoring is required but we credit Dr. Johnson to saving her life. \r\n\r\nThere have been several communication issues with the front desk but perhaps it will improve when they move to a bigger facility.

    Pros

    Great Veterinary Specialists, Great technicians

    by: 2LabsSue

I just brought my dog home from this practice. I saw three of the staff from Wednesday to Saturday. My dog had a mass on his spleen and pneumonia. Dr. Robb operated, Dr. Payne did the pre-op testing, and Dr. Pardo checked him out. Words can't describe this place. They treated my 13 year old dog with such care and love and tenderness. They never once questioned my decision to try to save him, even though he is a sr. citizen. They enouraged me to call as often as I wanted to check on his status, allowed us to visit and bring our own food, were polite and caring through the whole ordeal. Thanks to all who had a hand in caring for our boy! 24 hr. a day, 7 day a week care at this practice. What more could you ask for?

  • 3. Animal speciality care

    by: vzeo

The animal eye clinic of pittsburgh is a excellent care facility to have any animal treated. When my cat was there they gave her personal care. The staff is very knowledgable, the buidling is new, the roads leading to the clinic are main roads and well marked, When I was there I spoke with other people who came long distances to have there animals treated at this clinic. Dr. Bagley found things that other vets didn't. The clinic has a web site www.pittsburghvetspecialists.com

    by: janisd

We were referred to Dr. Pardo for immediate surgery for our dog who had cancer. The staff at PVS was very efficient and our dog had her surgery very quickly. \nDr. Pardo was honest, caring and straightforward. It was a very painful situation for our family and we truly appreciated the professional and compassionate atmosphere. I believe she has the very best care that this area has to offer. \nPVS would be my first choice if we ever again need veterinary services that are beyond the scope of general practitioner vet offices.\n\n

    Pros

    knowledgeable, current on technology, education!!!

  • 5. Great

    by: RichStoops

We took our dog there for cancer surgery in 2007. Though she never had the surgery and passed soon after her first appointment, Dr. Anderson was always very understanding and took a great deal of time with us. He clearly is great at what he does and if the need ever arises again, we would go straight back to him.

    Pros

    Dr. Anderson

    Cons

Their vet techs are not all professionally trained

  • 6. Emergencies services just average

    by: pittpanther86

I had always heard horror stories about emergency vets and hoped to never have to use one, but when one of my cats fell very ill with a fever, I felt I had no choice.\n\nThis was the closest e-vet around and the only one I knew of that offered 24 services since I had to go at 11 PM on a Saturday night.\n\nIt took quite a while to be seen, which would be alright if there was a crowd, but only a handful of people came in and out while I was there.\n\nMore over, the veterinarian who finally did see my cat was condescending and performed several unnecessary tests on my cat without asking first and then tacked them onto my bill. In the end, I was charged a lot for very little care or suggestion and was given amoxacillan.\n\nNot the worst case scenario, but certainly could have been better too.

    Pros

    24 hours, good facility

    Cons

    attention, pushing services/products

    by: maklein55

Great care and very knowledgeable staff. I guess it is just like a "real person's" ER. You have to sit and wait. They had 3 doctors on and were busy. My dog only need 2 stitches and of course she got pushed back because it wasn't a medical emergency. Of course it is pricey for an emergency as any emergency vet is. Thankful that they were there on a holiday.

    Pros

Available on a holiday. Great staff. Very knowledgeable

    Cons

    Was there for 4 hours.
