  • 2. SPCA NOT SO GREAT!

    by: ztT4MP74164012

I TOOK MY KITTEN CALI THERE TO GET SPAYED AND THE DAY SHE LEFT SHE WAS VERY SICK, I THOUGHT IT WOULD PASS BUT IT DIDN'T. SHE COULDN'T WALK SHE COULDN'T HOLD HER BOWELS. SHE LOST ALL SORTS OF WEIGHT AND WENT FROM BEING MY SWEET LITTLE LADY TO BEING SO SICK, SHE PASSED AWAY 2 WEEKS AFTER HER SURGERY AS THINGS KEPT GETTING WORSE, WHEN I CALLED THEM TO ASK THEM IF THEY COULD TAKE A LOOK AT HER THEY SAID NO, IT WOULD BE POINTLESS TAKE HER TO A VET. THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I HAD TO SCRAM UP THE MONEY TO GET HER FIXED BECAUSE WE JUST MOVED HERE, AND I DEFINITELY HAD NO MONEY FOR A VET BILL. I THOUGHT I WAS HELPING HER OUT BY GETTING HER FIXED, BUT I DIDN'T. SO I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE WHATSOEVER, IF THEY WOULD HAVE AT LEAST OFFERED TO TAKE A LOOK AT HER I WOULDN'T HAVE SO MUCH ANGER. I MISS MY BABY.

    Pros

    CHEAP NEUTERING/SPAY

    Cons

    KILLED MY KITTEN

  • 6. Volunteering

    by: davidsd94

I have volunteered for a couple months now, it really is fun! As soon as you walk out of orientation, the fun begins! Whether you are doing adoptions, or are walking a dog, you still are helpful. I thank all the people who adopt from us, work for the VOSPCA, volunteer, donate (Anyone who helps) for being their for all the animals.

    Pros

    Most everything!

    Cons

    We need a shelter makeover!

  • 7. Such a challenge

    by: hzleyedoe

I have been a volunteer for a couple of years and it has been a humbly experience to see all of the animals that go through a shelter and the love that is given to each an every one of them. I have fostered both cats and dogs and have fallen in love with those that are abandoned and unloved. The shelter is so small and old but the care and attention that is given to the animals is enormous. Being a volunteer is a rewarding experience that more people should try.

    Pros

Staff that is knowledgable and loving

    Cons

Shelter is really old and needs updating

  • 9. Worth the drive

    by: ztT4MP44366940

I rescued my male from here, he was my birthday present to myself. I've had him now for almost 6 years and I'm SO grateful still that they had him here. I live in the next county so it was a little ways to drive, but I'm so glad I did. The staff was very friendly and the kennels were all clean. Also the animals all looked well cared for. I thought it was funny that they told me he was a German sheppard when he is clearly a Rhodesian ridgeback, but I don't think that knoledge of the breed really has that much to do with kindness and love for the animal. When I found him he was happy and healthy and properly taken care of. He was even given his shots and a vet checked him out before he was adoptable. Sadly some of the buildings are in need of repair but that is to be expected. I have been back since adopting and I refer people here all the time.

    Pros

Large friendly shelter with some vet services on site.

    Cons

They need more volunteers for the physical upkeep of the kennels.

  • 11. A Safe Haven For Animals

    by: eliana

I'm grateful knowing there is a safe place for animals here in my hometown. I've been there many times myself and the animals are very well taken care of. If my own pet was ever lost, I would be very calm knowing it was in their hands. Everyone who works there are serious animal lovers and I trust them greatly. The only way to improve their service is by granting their facility a make-over so they have all equipment readily available to better suit the animals in need. I know if i had that kind of money available I would've done that a long time ago...PLEASE ZOOTOO, HELP OUR LITTLE ANIMALS!!!!

    Pros

Helps a large radius of Visalia

    Cons

    It's a little far
