  • 1. Tragedy Averted!

On 12/18/07, our 14 month old Husky (Slush) was hit by a car. Her right leg was obviously broken so we rushed her to the veterinarian on call in our area (Dr. Harff). He did prelimary treatment but referred us to Dr. Bookbinder for consultation. \r\n\r\nDr. Bookbinder, Diane (the office manager), the Vet Tech's and Assistants were all awesome from the minute we walked in. When we left her that day, we thought she would be operated on the following morning but, due to complications from the accident, Dr. Bookbinder felt it too risky to operate at that time. He was so kind when he called to break the news that Slush was in a very precarious situation and the outcome might not be as we hoped. Thankfully, things resolved and she had surgery on 12/22. \r\n\r\nShe was hospitalized for 7 days and I believe he called us almost every day (except Christmas, of course). When he didn't call, Diane was always there to take my calls and to get me a status report.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful to all the folks at this fine facility for taking such good care of our dog (even when she showed her "attitude" to them)! She's doing great and we have them to thank for it!!

    Pros

    Excellent surgeon, staff and facilities!

    Cons

    None from where I sit!

Our dog's leg was operated on. Surgery went very well. He didn't tolerate the pain medicine well, but with a phone call, I was able to get a new prescription and he progressed well from that point. About a month after surgery, he appeared to have re-injured the leg. We quickly got an appointment, were seen and were not charged, even though technically it wasn't surgery-related.\r\nI believe Dr. Bookbinder does other surgeries besides orthopedic. He really is a very thorough, knowledgeable, and caring veterinarian. Highly recommended.

    Pros

    Cons
