I really do think they do a great job there. They take great care of the animals and they are NOT a kill shelter.

New and trendy...staff truly does care about the animals. It is a no kill shelter.

Group various dogs togther which can sometimes be a negative experience for the dog. What about the animals from local high kill shelters?

Honestly, it is hard to come up with a con for WARL. Their facility is simply amazing. I love all the natural lighting, and I know the animals love it too. It is quiet there, which is practically unheard of in animal shelters. The gentle sound of flowing water soothes the animals. The dogs even have heated floors! The dogs are all quite calm and peaceful. They are in room-like settings rather than kennel-like settings. The small dog/puppy area is phenomenal as well.\n\n I don't think I've ever seen happier shelter cats than the ones at WARL. They have low-stress "cages", free-roaming condos, and some lucky cats also get to pounce around the whole room as a break from their "cages". Each cat "cage" has a clear front, a covered litter box, and at least one shelf to nap on. \n\nWARL has some fantastic programs, too. I think the low-cost services that they provide are wonderful. Every shelter considering a renovation needs to send a team to WARL to get some ideas. \n\nThe only con I noticed was that there were only 2 relatively small outdoor enclosures to let the dogs play in. Maybe that's all they really need, but I felt like a larger play area would be nice. I think they might have run out of room on the property, but in an ideal situation...

    Healing environment for the animals

Needs more room for walking dogs

This shelter was built on donations and is one of the neatest most animal friendly shelters I have been in. From the little dog cliffs to the great dog runs this place is fantastic.\n\nThey also just took on over 100 puppies rescued from a puppy mill!

    Lovely shelter!

    Not in a great location
