  • 1. Valuable asset

    by: Gilraen

Table Mountain is an asset in our community to serve animals who don't have homes. The sad thing is it is run by a large amount of volunteerism and is always in need of resources. They always manage to continue to serve regardless of what comes their way. Any and all donations help in some way. If they were to get help from the ZOOTOO contest, that would be a dream come true.

    Pros

available for pets as a refuge

    Cons

not enough resources to fund operations

  • 2. TMAC in Golden, CO

    by: Myst

I have gotten my three dogs there as well as one of my four cats. The staff was very helpful. When I got my most recent dog they helped teach me how to handle him the "dog whispering" way. Their shelter is very clean, they just need much more space! Most of the cages are filled up, most of the time.

    Pros

Very kind to animals, good customer service, very good knowledge about the animals

    Cons

    Needs more room.

  • 3. Good shelter

    by: APiratesLife4Me

We adopted two of our three kitties from Table Mountain (the other was a stray) and have always had smooth transactions with them with no hassle. Overall a very pleasent experience.

    Pros

    Cons

    it's not no-kill

  • 4. Good work

    by: BullsEye1212

They do an amazing job!! The have an inside and outside run for dogs. Great cat "room" and much more. Although they are not the best fecility I have seen.

    Pros

    Cons

    Not the best

  • 5. Really like the PHAT program

    by: rescueadog

I really like that they work with rescues and are trying to improve the lives of the dogs in their shelter. The PHAT program seems like a great program that all shelters could use.

    by: arcticbecca30

Table Mountain is the best place there is to adopt a new family member! I got my dog there and also volunteer there and love it.

    Cons

They desperately need a new building...

  • 8. One of the greatest animal shelters I have seen

    by: Kmarkoff

I have gone to Table mountain animal shelter since I was just 4 years old (now 15). I have gotten pets from there and they all are happy and well behaved. Two of my pets that I have currently are from there, and even though their backgrounds/previous owners weren't the greatest, they still were lovable and very social. The staff is always nice and helpful, even though the center is small it is very clean and well kept for the low budget they have. There are kennels indoors and outdoors so they can get fresh air, also there is a fenced area where the dogs can play outside. Its a very nice place I love that shelter. The only problem is the volunteer age, I am quite the animal lover, and I would do anything to help those animals feel loved, but sadly being under 18 I can't do much at all. Although this is a bit of a let down, I suppose it makes sense. They want responsible adults that they can trust more. All in all rating for this shelter the range being 1-10 , I would give it an 11 for being such a great animal shelter.

    Pros

Nice staff, Animals get outside time, animals very well taken care of, very nice place for their budget amount.

    Cons

    Volunteer age.

  • 9. Doing the best with the least...

    by: monipizwilson

TMAC is a 30 YR OLD DECREPIT FACILITY servicing NINE municipality's animal needs! HUGE responsibility handled with aplomb by Director Nick Fisher and Mkg. Dir. Ben Drotar and their marvelous staff.\r\nAnimals that come through these doors are handled with grace, intelligence, dignity and compassion. The needs of the NINE CITIES AND COUNTY that utilize TMAC have far outgrown TMAC's outdated and undermaintained facility. We desperately need a new facility.

    Pros

    Fabulous People

    Cons

Unable to provide the required service

  • 10. Great people doing great work

    by: WBAA

If a place ever needed a new building, this is the place. If you can overlook this 30+ year old structure, everything else about Table Mountain is great. The staff is friendly, helpful and great to work with. The web site is user friendly as I was able to look at the cats available for adoption before I went in. I had a few on my list to check out and was able to find a great cat to add to my home. It is nice to see the local PetSmarts helping with the adoption of cats from Table Mountain too.\n\nThank you to all the hard workers here!

    Pros

  • 13. A Great Place To Find Your New Family Member!!!

    by: DarkParadise98

I have adopted 3 of my family members from Table Mountain! Each animal I have adopted became one of the best animals I have ever owned. The people that I dealt with were all very friendly, smart, and super helpful! Angie Davis was one of the nicest people I have ever spoken to and she was very helpful and understanding! She works extremely hard to save each and every animal that comes into the doors of the shelter! Table Mountain definitely needs a new shelter so they can continue doing all of the great things they do for the animals each and every day! THANK YOU TO ALL THAT WORK EVERYDAY TO SAVE LIVES!!! YOUR HARD WORK MEANS THE WORLD TO MANY!! :-) \r\n\r\n

  • 18. Misty found a home

    by: JulieMorris

I have surrendered a dog and an adopted 2 from \r\nTable Mountain. They are very friendly and easy to\r\ndeal with. \r\nI had to surrender my dog of 10 yrs because a neighbor was complaining about her barking. That just started when other neighbors started setting off fireworks. I was heartbroken to lose my best friend.\r\nWhen I went back several weeks later to adopt a new \r\npal...the woman that had taken her in remembered me and assured me that she had been adopted the first day. How relieved I was to know she was OK.\r\n\r\nThank You TM

    by: kekoot

This shelter does not turn away any animals. This place will touch your heart and I always think of them and know they deserve more help. The people involved in Table Mountain Animal Center really care. I try to help any way I can...I will always put my donations to them even if it as a small as giving a can of food.

    Pros

    Staff is very caring

    Cons

needs much support and not getting what they deserve

  • 34. Adopt don't drop off

    by: ColoradoBB

The staff at this shelter is very busy. There are so many animals. They are doing their best. Yet, we made several calls to volunteer to walk dogs at lunch and no one returned our calls. The web site is good, in that we found one of our cats there and they worked with us to get her into our hands as quickly as possible. Just be patient with these guys and it'll benefit you in the end.

    Pros

    accepts all animals

    Cons

    overcrowded

  • 35. I found the love of my life at Table Mountain

    by: Brandee612

I found the Love of my life at table mountain 3 years ago. She was a depressed, scared dog who had been at the shelter for over a month. I immediantly knew when I saw her that she was the one I wanted to take home and love. I was pleased that table mountain had cared for her so long, as I think that she would have been put down else where. She had stopped eating and lay quietly in her kennel. She is the sweetest dog, the most intelligent, and everyone has said that she was a find. I have since donated to the shelter as a way to say thanks for saving my friend. I hope that others will find their loves at the shelter and I hope that the shelter recieves more to be able to do more.

    Pros

    they do the best they can to save animals; good hours;

    Cons

the facilty is in need of more staff; very loud in the kennels; can't put animals on hold

  • 36. Kudos to your volunteers

    by: Tatesq

Without commenting on the shelter administration and operations, I want to give a big kudos to the volunteers. It must be a difficult place in which to volunteer.

    Pros

    Cons

  • 37. Good job

    by: crystalhoff

Lets help them get a new building.

    Pros

    Cons

    Building needs some help

  • 38. They help even the "unwanted"

    by: ziggypiggy

Even though they are in an old building and have very little room, they give every creature a chance. They even give the "unwanted" a chance. Way to go tmac!!

    Pros

    Every dog gets a chance

    Cons

    It's and old building

  • 39. TMAC is awesome

    by: cosheltierescue

If the cities who rely on TMAC to shelter their stray animals would financially support this shelter things would be much better. Since the cities don't want to support them I hope we can get enough volunteers on board so they can win this contest for their much needed building.

    Pros

    Great staff who really care

    Cons

Old building that needs to be replaced

  • 40. TMAC

    by: gypsymdh1

I definitely enjoy coming to the TMAC supply sales and have brought one or two of my dogs on occasion. I think TMAC needs more sponserships from the public and definitely could use more volunteers. If you volunteer at a shelter that is already in great shape and running well, think about sharing your time with TMAC and helping them out to become like the "more upbeat" shelters. I have been inside on a few occassions and while it is a small shelter, I have found it to be clean and the staff to be very well meaning. I plan to volunteer there myself as soon as I can get over the holiday bills and can afford the gas to get there on the weekends. Volunteer and help!

    Pros

    I love TMAC supply sales

    Cons

Seems a little run down as most would agree

  • 41. great shelter

    by: cyrusduke

I love this shelter-the staff/volunteers are very knowledgable and care deeply for the animals in need.

    Pros

    Great staff

    Cons

    none

  • 42. Hard at work.

    by: ajcjohnson

The staff there is wonderful, always willing to stop and answer a few questions. The building is old and is not the most inviting place to be, but the staff always has a smile and a second. We adopted Lola from there and wouldn't trade her for the world :)

    Pros

    Love the staff

    Cons

    old building, needs some help

  • 43. Working hard

    by: tas831

The staff at table mountain are a great bunch of people. They all work together to get the animals cared for the best they can. My wife works on their surgical unit and tells me about all the hardships that they face. I am always telling her they are helping to make a better place for the animals despite their hardships. Keep up the good work staff.

    Pros

Everyone works hard for the animals

    Cons

    it needs some repairing

  • 44. Have done so much to Improve

    by: jcsinner

The center has under gone some changes over the last couple of years, including a major change in staff. This has done a lot to help tmac. They offer new programs (P.H.A.T)(S.U.V) to help not just the animals in the center, but the public as well. The building is an old building and was originally set up to be a shelter, only a pound, but that has changed. Lets help tmac get that new center they deserve, both the animals and staff. Yeah tmac!! :)

    Pros

The staff works very hard to help

    Cons

    Its old and needs help

  • 45. Doing best to improve

    by: TaraColorado

I have not volunteered at this shelter, but I have adopted from here and my dogs have been kept here when they jumped my 6 foot wood fence. My dogs were well taken care of and I gladly paid the fee for the overnight stay as I know they need the money. This shelter is doing everything in it's power to improve it's visability in the community which in turn improves it's adoption rates and conditions. They have a ground breaking program for working with the 'Bully' breeds as Denver, Aurora and other Colorado suburbs have instituted breed bans, kicking these misunderstood animals out of their homes. I highly respect this program and have not heard of any other shelters in the area doing anything like this. They can use all the support they can get and do the best they can with what they have.

    Pros

    Work with 'bully' breeds

    Cons

    kill shelter

  • 46. These people deserve a better facility

    by: jewelsndenver

I love TMAS! The people that work there are dedicated, knowledgeable and kind. It is not their fault that the facility is old and needs work. They keep it as clean as old and used up can be. I can't believe it is the old full service shelter in Jefferson County. JeffCo is huge and even a facility like DDFL would be challenged to do the things that TMAS does. \nThis is a shelter that deserves a chance to shine.

    Pros

    Great staff, no-kill, pitbull friendly

    Cons

Old facility, only facility in the county

  • 47. Amazing People - Needs Your Help

    by: freemyheel

Table Mountain Animal Center deeply cares for all of its animals, and it does so on a shoestring budget. This is not an excuse, it is a fact. It is disappointing to hear other people who so clearly care about the welfare of animals speaking negatively about other rescue facilities. TMAC is in desperate need of a new facility, with state-of-the-art ventilation systems and adoption rooms. This can only be accomplished with positive support and of course donations!

    Pros

    Cares for many, many animals

    Cons

    Aging facility

  • 48. Wonderful Shelter, just needs some helping hands

    by: stellaluna71

I have tried my best to send as many people towards this shelter as I can as Volunteers, Donations of money and goods, merely because it has great potential to be an amazing shelter. I have heard many an arguement "They were dirty, rude, didn't know what they were doing, animals were sick" etc. etc. That is because one can only squeeze SO much out of so little. \r\n\r\nResources are low, time offered freely is rare anymore and a shelter can only do with what they have available.\r\n\r\nVolunteer! Donate! Spread the word best you can to even those that have otherwise thought badly of it because of a friend of a friends experiance.

    Pros

Very heartfelt, Mindful of the needs of the animals

    Cons

Being short staffed/Volunteered it tends to fall through the cracks

  • 49. This Shelter is overwhelmed and needs our help

    by: moore4dogs

I am a volunteer at Table Mountain Animal Center,a harsh place most would say. I am there almost every day because I feel I am the voice for those who can't speak. I try very hard not to let any pet fall through the cracks.I am there for the animals.Table Mountain Animal Center is old....it's tired, there's nothing fancy about this place at all. It's falling apart...actually, it's scary, it's jail... The shelter takes care of six cities within Jefferson County here in Denver,Colorado, which, for it's size is just plain crazy. At any given day, we will have up to 200 dogs and as many more cats to house. And sadly,we have few volunteers compared to many of the other animal shelters in town, who call themselves "no-kill shelters". What I think many of those volunteers don't know is a lot of their "unwanted pets" end up here, because they are not getting adopting at their facility.Their outcome is not ever known to those volunteers. I am there for the animals, not because it's a pretty place and there are tons of people to meet. My main concern is to get the dogs out for even 5 precious minutes so they can go outside, smell fresh air and go potty. Very basic pleasures. My dream is to have a large volunteer base, and a nicer facility for our homeless pets to be in while they wait for a new family to adopt them.Every day, I feel like I'm in the trenches, just doing whatever I can to make it better for the shelter pets.Table Mountain Animal Center is in dire need of a facelift and make over. If you have ever wanted to make a difference for animals, please, please come here.

    Pros

They take care of a huge area

    Cons

    they need a bigger place
