My cat is sitting on my lap, purring, content and ALIVE thanks to the amazing team at Stratham-Newfields Vet Hospital. After an emergency surgery using the safest anesthesia available (isoflurane) my cat developed a lethal (and rare) condition known as Malignant Hyperthermia (MH). I have read about this since her diagnosis and have also spoken with several people who know of this condition and they are all amazed my cat is still alive. At her follow-up appointment when she was declared healthy and healing very well, I asked a bit more about what happened. I learned that SNVH always sets a timer to ensure they take a pet’s temperature every 5 minutes post surgery (this is SNVH’s standard post-surgical protocol). They were having their weekly staff meeting but my cat was in critical condition, so they moved the meeting to the break room which has glass walls that look into to the cages so they could keep a close eye on my cat. In the middle of the meeting, at one of the 5 minute temperature checks, the nurse read my cat’s temperature and announced there was an emergency - her temperature was almost 106F. The vets and nurses rushed out of the break room and quickly reduced my cat's temperature before this condition was lethal. Without this level of monitoring, skill and swift action, our beloved girl would not be with us today. I hope your pet never needs such lifesaving measures but if you live in the NH Seacoast region, this is where you want to take your pets. Many people have told me we are very lucky. Perhaps, but the care at SNVH is not about luck... the way they practice veterinary medicine saved my cat’s life. We are so grateful that I dedicated this page to the staff at SNVH for saving our girl. http://www.kvellbirmans.com/Birmans/Aurora/21977268_g8Mb2h#!i=1644719030

I love this vet. We have been going there for several years. We recently had a cat pass over the holidays (and went to the emergency clinic). Not only did we receive a sympathy card from the clinic, but Dr Dennis sent us flowers. Sooo sweet. They have been a great inspiration for my 10 yr old daughter who wants to be a vet when she grows up! They even offer a free Red Cross Animal First Aid class which my daughter and I attended.

Great Staff, wonderful vets, kid friendly, even offer snacks!

I have taken all my pets to SNVH now for 8-9 yrs and I have to say that Dr. Dennis has got to be the greatest! I so love the care they show for my LittleOne and Bandit when it was their time to go to doggie heaven. My Jingles loves going to SNVH as he knows they have his favorite treats, and he loves all staff members, funny at the time we first met Jingles he was at SNVH being neutured and was going back to CVHS to be adopted when I saw him I just had to have him, and the wonderful staff at CVHS knew it was love at first site with us and we got him and he has been the joy of our family. we Thank SNVH and CVHS for our wonderful boy and that there could be no better place to go than SNVH for pet services and needs and CVHS for wonderful adoption.
