Stafford Animal Shelter, The Humane Society of Park County Montana has earned respect in the region for its years of dedication in serving the area’s homeless and unwanted pets. Since opening their doors in 1999, the Stafford Animal Shelter has refined its animal care services in response to growing knowledge about animal health care, behavioral assessment, training and prevention techniques, and the community’s needs. Today, each Shelter animal receives outstanding vet care, healthy food, clean bedding and toys, mandatory spaying or neutering, interactive socialization, behavior assessment, a comprehensive adoption packet including a free month of pet health insurance lost pet and free year of behavior advice and lost pet service, personal post-adoption behavior support, and partnerships with local vets and animal-care businesses. In addition to caring for resident animals and seeking adoptive homes, the shelter works to prevent the many behavior-related surrenders by offering the public a free animal behavior help-line, pet advice handouts, and a lending library. They also provide the community with a monthly animal welfare radio show and advice column, a retail area that focuses on humane animal care products, and multiple volunteer opportunities and pet therapy visits to local facilities serving the elderly and developmentally disabled. Stafford Animal Shelter has a superior reputation statewide as a warm and welcoming place to surrender, be reunited with, visit, or adopt a well-cared for pet, and the source for crucial educational information.
