  • 1. Go St. Huberts!

    by: cher6072

What makes St. Huberts great is the people who work there. They truly care about all animals, and are dedicated to helping humans become the best animal caregivers they can be. St Huberts' staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They go out of their way to help everyone and anyone who comes through their doors. Animals need people like this.

  • 4. I love volunteering here!

    by: smellyElly

St. Hubert's is a great place. I've volunteered there since November of 2008. I can't compare it to other shelters since I've visited very few, but I can say that St. H's is kept very clean by a very loving staff. When I can (and unfortunately, I can't because of my current work schedule), I volunteer once or twice a week to help out in the cattery. The work is hard, especially on Mondays when EVERYTHING is scrubbed and hosed down, but it's so much fun to spend a little time with those cute rascally cats. I have the greatest respect for the staff. They work so hard to clean the cattery and kennel every morning and spend the whole afternoon helping with adoptions! That's true dedication.

    Pros

The staff cares so much about each animal: it's really touching.

    Cons

Long walk from a train station

    by: NikkiE

I have used St. Huberts for all of my puppy training needs from puppy socialization to freestyle. I have no doubt in my mind that Scooter and Jr. are so well behaved and social - has alot to do with St. Huberts training of the owner (me). I have always had dogs of all ages and never did I realized that there was an easier, kinder and more gentle way to get fantastic results. My time at St. Huberts has not just benefited me but many I come in contact with and all of future pets, as well

    Pros

Great Staff dedicated and knowledgable, wonderful programs for all stages and ages

    Cons

Not enough people know about this place.

  • 9. They Care

    by: nickmac4

Recently my cat was missing. I called St Huberts to report his disappearance. They were very efficient. Right away the report was registered. The woman was very sympathetic. A few days later I received a call to see if he was found ( no) , a few days after that they called to see if they had a match ( unfortunately not). We were in constant correspondence during the TWO WEEKS that my cat was missing- never did they complain about me calling to check ( though they assured me they would call if necessary). My cat returned home on his own . They were very happy to receive the phone call that he was home safe.

    Pros

    Accessible, knowledgeable, compassionate

    Cons

    - none-

  • 10. LOVE ST. HUBERTS

    by: pattij75

My parents brought my two Dalmations to St. Huberts when I was a teen-ager so when it came time for me to get a dog I knew exactly where I would go for training! Mocha was so happy to go there every week and see her trainer! She loved Barbara more than the other dogs! It was a wonderful experience and when we felt we didnt understand something our trainer took us and our dog aside and gave us one on one till we worked it out! Mocha learned so much and we loved the experience!

    Pros

    The dedicated staff!!!!!!

  • 15. Great Shelter and Staff

    by: rondoc

Over the years we have adopted a total of seven cats from St. Hubert's. The staff have been extremely helpful in the selection and adoption processes. They carefully explained the personality of each cat we were considering and discussed health issues when they existed. We had as much time as we needed in an evaluation room with each cat so we could get to know each other. When we expressed interest in adopting a thirteen year old cat they waved their adoption fees because he was so needy and probably would not be adopted by any one else. He turned out to be a very special cat for the remaining two years of his life. We have been very happy with all of the cats we have adopted and will always consider St. Hubert's first in the shelters we visit when looking for another pet.

    Pros

Animals are well taken care of.

    Cons

Facility is old, but clean and well taken care of, and needs updating.

  • 16. Love St. Huberts

    by: Trxieness

We have adopted two cats and one puppy from St. Huberts and could not imagine going anywhere else for our pets. The volunteers and staff are kind and knowledgable and steer you in the right direction to find the right pet. My sons have also attended critter camp and we have been to the education facility for boy scouts. All is terrific!

    Pros

    Wonderful facility, knowledgable staff

    Cons

    needs a makeover

  • 17. Terrific shelter and outreach programs

    by: Jbkaefer

The staff really cares about the cats and dogs who find themselves living at the shelter waiting for their "forever" homes. Each animal is thoroughly evaluated for its behavior and health, and then matched with those looking to adopt. There is also an extensive Education Outreach program that provides humane education classes to local schools as well as to scout groups and other children's organizations (and adult). There is a Critter Camp for kids in the summer. Also, Paws For People Program that provides teams (person plus dog, cat, even rabbits and a pig!) to visit hospital, nursing home patients as well as schools. Extensive volunteer program including canine coaches, feline friends etc.etc. It is an active, caring, and foward looking animal welfare center.

    Pros

caring staff who really know each shelter animal housed there

    Cons

    needs a larger facility

  • 18. A warm, friendly shelter

    by: Bella1234

I have visited St. Hubert's a few different times, and have always been impressed by how clean the facility was and how meticulous the staff members were. They really seem invested in the animals' wellbeing. And their cattery is really unique. It has two small visitation rooms so that potential adoptees can get to know the cats outside of a cage. All of the cats in the cattery always have toys, warm blankets, etc. They are so good to the animals there!

    Pros

    Clean facility, warm atmosphere

    Cons

None that I can think of!

  • 19. The BEST animal welfare center EVER

    by: Daksweeney

We adopted our first dog from St. Hubert's. From the very beginning of the process the staff was great. We had our beloved Tight for almost 12 years. I'd recommend St. Hubert's to anyone looking to adopt (or looking for training).

    Pros

    Dedicated to animals

    Cons

    None

  • 20. Great service to the community!

    by: sarak1229

St. Huberts is a wonderful shelter where the animals are first in the hearts of everyone involved. Ever since I was little and got my first kitten, Suntan, to now as an adult, I will continue to support the shelter's efforts.

    Pros

    Clean, loving environment

    Cons

    Too many pets needing homes

  • 21. They really care about you & your pet, especially your pet

    by: suburbamama

After adopting our first dog, I had some concerns about his behavior. I talked to Vinnie, dog trainer/specialist, who invited me down for a FREE consultation with my dog. He gave our dog a professional evaluation and gave me some training suggestions, and resources. I've since been back for two training classes, and both instructors have been really good.

    Pros

Very knowledgable, they care about you & your pet

    Cons

  • 24. They're awesome

    by: bowties27

The animal shelter had a wonderful presence in the town. Even little kindergardeners know what St. Hubert's is. I for one can only associated the saint's name with pet adoption in Madison.

    Pros

It's very convenient, and friendly, and offers many programs for dogs

    Cons

    There are none

  • 25. FANTASTIC SHELTER

    by: mendal4

I've been working as a volunteer at this shelter for 4 years now and it's a great place! I felt welcome and encouraged from the very beginning and it's clear that eveyone there loves animals. They never put a dog or cat down because they can't find a home for it, and their first priority is always the welfare of the animals. I can't think of a more deserving shelter to win the make over!

    Pros

staff is great, the animals have the best care

    Cons

    none!

  • 26. We Love St. Hubert's!

    by: Sandi93

We love St. Hubert's! Even though we have yet to be able to add a pet to our family, the staff there have introduced my young children to animals and their care in a really friendly way. We love the clean and organized facility. We can't wait to be counted among the adopters in the future. We love Ellen Goldberg and her Critter Camp! What a fun way to share so much information with kids. Thanks!

    Pros

    Caring and clean

    Cons

    NONE

  • 27. A great shelter

    by: slkoehler

St. Hubert's has a nice selection of dogs and cats to fit a variety of families' needs. But the services they offer go beyond adoptions. They have a Doggy Day Camp and Dog Training School for the doggy parent who wants to give their pooch some extra exercise or who needs to brush up on obedience. They also have a summer Critter Camp to teach school age kids about animals and a pet therapy program for residents of hospitals, nursing homes and care centers.

    Pros

A great place to get a nice pet

    Cons

you may not find the ideal pet on the first trip, but it's worth the wait

  • 28. Training

    by: TUBACCA

The St. Hubert’s Training Academy (Not just a School) provides all levels of training from their puppy classes to the competitive obedience and Rally classes, Sports Classes such as Agility and Tracking and for the more lively ones that need a little attitude adjustment the Feisty Fidos classes. Over the years I have tried them all and keep on going back if for nothing more than to keep the dogs active. All the trainers are completely Knowledgeable in the classes they are teaching and the curriculum is setup so that the training is consistent from week to week. The training staffs are dedicated and keep up to date as to training methods and animal behavior. ALL and all it is a great place for training and working with your Dog. Working Dog is a Tired Dog and A Tried Dog is a Trained Dog

    Pros

Most Knowledge staff and up to date training methods

    Cons

    none i can think of

  • 29. GREAT animal WELFARE Center

I adopted my cat from here and the staff were great. They steered us to the kitten that would best fit our family. They also do a great job educating school children about the care of animals. Very well run organization.

    Cons

    Old buildings

  • 30. wonderful source for training

    by: attidogs

I've searched through a lot of places that offer training classes and this one is by far the most in-line with my thinking. It is research based and follows logically from one course to the next. I've had two different dogs with different personalities work with me in their courses and each has does extremely well - including my "fiesty fido" (aka "dog who hates other dogs").

    Pros

    great training

    Cons

    nothing

  • 31. Great shelter!

    by: CavLover

I love St Huberts. I have been affilitaed with this shelter in on way or another since I was 7. I won't tell you how long ago that was... They are great community advocates for animals, adopt out lots of animals, and take excellent care of all of them. They are fabulous.

    Pros

Adopt out a lot of animals

    Cons

    Need updated facilities

  • 32. Only the best!

    by: pattik123

If it weren't for the fine trainers at St. Huberts things would have turned out much differently for our little rescue girl. Our first trainer at K9 Campus suggested that we should re-home her, she wasn't the dog for us and that I'd never be able to train her. But thanks to the proper evalution and possitive training methods and of course the supportive trainers at St. Hubert's, Belle has become a confident and stable loving family member. The solid obedience training that we received has made that all possible.

    Pros

Supportive knowledgeable staff that make it easy to learn

    Cons

    none

  • 33. great place

Been working with St. Hubert's for many years. Started by adopting our first dog from them, continued with all the obedience training and went on to participate in play groups and have been certified for pet therapy through them. Very very knowlegable staff

    Pros

many services available. Very professional trainers

    Cons

not much oversite of adopting families

  • 34. Our Experience with St. Hubert's

    Pros

    Cons

The only con is that this facility is 30 minutes away

  • 35. Wonderful shelter

    by: GoodGirlBC

This is an amazing shelter, one of the finest in the nation. My dogs love participating in their annual dog walk to raise money for the charity. Last year, they raised almost $800 in the OctoberFest Dog Walk. They have both attended training classes at the Madison location and the trainers are extremely knowledgeable and patient.

    Pros

Warm, caring staff and trainers, great events

    Cons

    none

  • 36. A Warm and Caring Place

    by: PamelaCooper

I've been involved with St. Hubert's for over 12 years, first with dog training classes for my previous dogs, then with educational classes and recreational sports with my dog. For the fifteen months, we've been involved with the Paws for People Animal Therapy Program, which is just an excellent resource for the community and for animals. The satisfaction I derive from our volunteer work in hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, and public events-and my dog apparently does too - is really immense. I've learned alot from all of my involvements with St. Hubert's and have only positive things to say about the committed staff, the meaningful programs, and the outstanding contributions St. Hubert's makes to West Central New Jersey and beyond. Go St. Hubert's!

    Pros

Excellent programs for people and animals. Excellent support for shelter animals and help to find them permanent homes.

    Cons

Needs a shelter make-over to extend services to the growing numbers of stray and abandoned and abused animals.

  • 37. So great

    by: SEJKatz

St. Hubert's is our local shelter, and we can always rely on them to care for the local lost and stray pets, and to provide homes for the ones that need a home. The thing I especially like is the way they try to "match" you with the pet best suited for your life. They are working out of a very old and run-down building, and they make more than the best of it.

    Pros

    Professional

    Cons

    In need of repair

  • 38. St. Huberts saved my Life!!

    by: hotpoint13

I adopted a beautiful dog there 2 years ago. It was a time in my life where my mother had just passed away, and I fell into a deep depression. Animals have always been a big part of my life, but hadn't had a dog since I was younger. I knew it was time for that companionship that can only come from a furry friend. Cue in my experience and visit at St. Hubert's. I immediately was drawn to a rescue from the Save a Sato organization in Puerto Rico. She was generously given a new home thanks to St. Hubert's. Thanks to St. Hubert's and my pup, I feel like a new life began for me. I owe it all to my experience with St. Hubert's Rescue!!! Thank you to all of the volunteers, staff, and animals. You are hero's and both animal and human lifesaver's in my eyes!!

    Pros

    Everything - Animals, Staff!!!

    Cons

    None

  • 39. Great Shelter

    by: Golfguy2

Before we had our puppy, when my wife had more time, she used to volunteer at this shelter in their Canine Coach program. The shelter is not near where we live but she drove the 30 miles one way because she believed that the program really was a help for the animals. The volunteers would take the dogs to the training school and work with them on basic behavior issues. They were taught to sit, go down, and wait at the door. The program helped the dogs to get adopted.

    Pros

Clean cages. Volunteers who really care

    Cons

    none

    Pros

    The Staff

    Cons

    Shelter needs updating

  • 42. The Best Shelter!!!

    by: ShayFinn

St. Hubert's is the best shelter in NJ/NY area. They care about their animals, they are knowledgeable about the animals in their care - about their personalities, health, etc. They make sure, in advance, that future pet owners are able to take in the pets and capable to be caregivers, so that the poor animals don't have to be returned to the shelter. They also give incentives to get the animals spayed/neutered. They also don't adopt out pets that are ill and make sure they are checked by doctors before adoption. They also offer great spaces for the dogs to run/play. I can't think of a nicer, cleaner, friendlier shelter!

    Pros

    Clean, Caring, Courteous

    Cons

    None

  • 43. AMAZING

    by: heatherwillis

Amazing place. St Hubert's does a great job of placing animals with families.

    Pros

    Thorough screening of potential owners

    Cons

Can be hard to get the animal you want

  • 44. Simply the Best

    by: brikquen

St. Hubert's generously partners with many other shelters and runs an annual pet food drive that benefits shelters throughout the state. They bring in dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters from other parts of the country and eveny Puerto Rico. They have a wonderful education program, dog training school, pet therapy program and pet loss counselling. Being able to expand their facility will mean many more animals can be helped.

    Pros

Great partner in the animal welfare world

    Cons

    none

  • 45. We Love St Hubert's

    by: sarahfliegel

We are involved in St Hubert's education program where my son (who uses a wheelchair) and his Service Dog help educate Girl Scouts about Service Dogs when they come to the shelter to earn certain badges. Please support them!

    Cons

needs more space and updated, fully accessible, facility

  • 46. Great Place!

    by: emessineo

We adopted our puppy from St. Hubert's and they were terrific! They gave us everything we needed to start with and we had private time with a few dogs before we chose. Their classes are invaluable and you get a discount if you have adopted your dog from their shelter. The animals are well cared for and healthy.

    Pros

Healthy animals, great staff, classes available

    Cons

Not as many animals as some other shelters

  • 47. Great team

  • 54. My Dog Boomer

    by: judydwsn

I adopted my dog Boomer from St Huberts about 5 yrs ago. She is by far the most loving, gentlest, kindess dog. She is great aroung kids, other dogs, postman and everyone else. She is non-food aggressive. My son was only 6 when we got her and I had to make sure that the dog we chose would be good around rough housing boys and neighborhood kids. Well St Huberts brought her into meet us, they showed us how gentle and kind she was it was love at first sight. The people that worked there are very knowledgeable and kind. They are advocates for these animals and you could tell that they had the dogs best interest at heart. St. Huberts is old but clean and you can't say enough about the staff.

    very knowledgeable staff

none that I can think of

St. Huberts is a great place. Not only are they a place to find your new best friend, but they are a full service animal welfare center. • 56. Wonderful Caring Place

    by: momofjonas

I am a Girl Scout Leader of Troop 1262 in Bridgewater and we choose to support the Shelter every year with donations of pet supplies when we do our annual cookie booth sales. We would not support it if we didn't feel so strongly about the way they take care of their furry friends. It is places like St Huberts that give shelters a good name. We adopted our special little 'Jonas' from there just 4 weeks ago and what a blessing - after losing our beloved family dog after 15 years just the beginning of January. Hopefully we have Jonas as long! Thank you, St Huberts, for all you do!

    Pros

Great Facility that truly Loves the Animals!

    Cons

    NONE!!!

  • 57. Paws for People Pets in the Hospitals

    by: MaChat

I love this community based organization. This facility is not just an animal shelter. It is truly a community fixture and is well-known all over NJ, not just in the small community of Madison. I am originally from Northern NY, and I had heard of St. Hubert's prior to moving to NJ in 1983. It does so much good for so many. The programs for Therapy Pets to go into hospitals are simply amazing and have helped many, many people.

    Pros

    innovative, loving, trustworthy, community fixture

    Cons

    none

  • 58. We've gotten all our dogs here

    Cons

  • 59. Terrific shelter!

    by: PomMom18

St. Hubert's is a great shelter, highly-recommended by everyone who's dealt with it. From their attention to finding the right homes for their animals, to the training classes offered to solidify the bond between owners and their pets, to their excellent community events to encourage both fundraising and fun, St. Hubert's is a wonderful resource for pets and owners alike.

  • 63. Best Shelter: St. Hubert's

    by: nboyajy

I have been a Canine coach at St. Huberts in Madison for about 2 years. I recently have had knee problems, so I can't really work with the pups until I'm better. I love to help train the dogs, though. The change in them is just amazing. I feel so much satisfaction knowing that this animal is on his way to learning how to get along with people and other dogs. I absolutely love the staff at St. Hubert's. They really care about the animals. If anyone wants a great pet.. cat or dog.. St. Hubert's will give you an honest evaluation of the animal and really does their best to match the pet and the owner. They have a Meet Your Match program which is like a dating service (just kidding). It matches the dog or cat's temperament with the potential owner! it's great.

    Pros

    Everything.. esp. the staff

    Cons

I wish I had more time to volunteer

  • 67. Education and community outreach are superior

    by: Oscarmadison

My experience with St. Huberts is through its dog training facility and its humane education programs. I cannot say enough good things about either program. My dog was a student in Puppy Kindergarten and Petite Pals basic training, and in both cases I found the staff to be extremely knowledgable and flexible in their approach. Regardless of how advanced (or not) a particular pet (or owner) was, the trainers were patient and worked with both pet and owner until a satisfactory result was achieved. St. Huberts is an integral part of our community, whether it is from their willingness to assist with Girl Scout badges, ice cream socials in the summer, or their Kritter Kamp and classroom visits. My experiences with St Huberts have been positive, and would not hesitate to recommend their services to anyone.

    by: chirorandi

St. Hubert's really cares about the welfare of the animals. They offer so many programs such as feline friends. This program is run by volunteers who spend lots of time with the cats in the shelter. This helps keeps the cats social, loving and happy. Another great program is Critter camp. This is an extraordinary camp for kids to interact and learn about the dogs in the shelter. Incredible bonds are formed as well as a lifelong love for animals and people. I have also used the training school. the instructors are wonderful and provide patience and knowledge. Great Job!!

  • 77. Animal Adoption Heaven

    by: kanda81

We have adopted 2 dogs during the past 25 years from St. Huberts. Both times, we were matched with the perfect dog for our needs--especially the second time, as we had small children. The shelter made sure the pup was as comfortable with us as we were with her (letting us experience her energy in an outside pen as our children ran around and letting our children touch the pups feet, tail, head to see how she would react). We were blessed both times, and will never adopt a pet anywhere else. The professionalism, care, and health of animals is superior, and St. Huberts is a blessing to our community.

    Pros

Always put animal's welfare before the human's welfare

    Cons

Not open every day of the week

  • 78. St. Huberts it tops

I have been visiting St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center with my Boxer, Bailey, for a little over a year now and I have always been pleased with the friendly staff directing the classes. I had never enrolled any of my previous dogs into obediance school before, but with Bailey being a little bigger than my other pets, I figured it wouldn't hurt to fine tune her skills. The fabulous staff at St. Hubert's allowed Bailey to show off her true talent and listening skills while still having time for fun and games. The staff provided excellent tips for improvement and feedback on my dogs progress. I am truely pleased with Bailey's success to date and am thankful to the hard work from the staff of St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center!

    by: nicolina29

I visited St. Hubert's for the first time a few days ago. I had a very nice adoption specialist walk around with me and show me the animals that were up for adoption. The specialist was extremely knowledgeable and seemd extremely passionate about her job. It was great to see animals going home and other families playing with animals that they were considering adopting. All the animals go through tests to see which families would be good for them. For example, animals go through screenings to see if they would be good to go to homes that already have animals. Each animal also goes through health screenings so you know you will be taking home a healthy animal. Overall, i would totally recommend going to St. Huberts to adopt your next pet!

Great place to come and adopt animals

    Cons

  • 87. Great shelter!

    by: lmuller32

I adopted a wonderful dog from St Huberts. The shelter is extremely clean and the staff is very helpful. While Andy was healed of his mange and heartworm, there was no mention of his dental problems. Since his adoption, he has had 2 root canals, and sees a dentist once a year. However, in spite of this, I would still adopt from St Huberts, since they have been superior in every other way.

    Pros

Very clean and terrific care of the animals.

    Cons

The veterinarians should be a bit more thorough.

  • 91. ST HUBERT'S DOGGIE DAY CAMP PROGRAM

    by: lisatram

I've been a client of St. Hubert's Doggie Day Camp program for many, many years now. In June of last year, I unfortunately had to put down my Black Lab of 13 yrs, and she attended this program since she was a puppy. I recently rescued a Border Collie/Mix from a shelter, and now she attends day camp 3 days a week. She absolutely loves it. I don't know where I'd be without this program. All the dogs I encounter when I drop mine off in the morning are literally pulling their owners across the parking lot in order to get into the day camp area as quickly as possible. While I'm sitting in the car, waiting for them to open in the morning, my dog Lacey will cry and whimper in the car because I'm not letting her out of the car to go inside. You know dogs....they can't hide their feelings...they "wear their hearts on their sleeves". Lacey reacts so favorably to every camp counselor she sees. It's obvious that she really enjoys her days there, as she's fast asleep in the car on the way home. I'd recommend this facility and this program to anyone. Lisa Tramontano Mine Hill, NJ

    Pros

Awesome program in an equally awesome facility.

    Cons

    Honestly, can't think of one.

  • 95. Saint Hubert's

    by: eal3k

My husband Michael and I are the couple that adopted Delta (previously Hope) from Saint Hubert’s in Madison, NJ. We had been talking about getting a dog (read: I had been pushing to get a dog) for while. We had looked into several possibilities – rescues, puppies, etc. but nothing seemed to be the right fit for us. Right after Christmas I convinced Michael to go to Saint Hubert’s and “just see” the facility (and the wonderful puppy I had heard about.) It was love at first sight. When we first met Delta (Hope) she was not yet up for adoption due to her mange. We followed her progress closely and once she was ready to be adopted we were very excited to make her part of our family! We had a wonder experience with the shelter. Everyone we met with took such a genuine interest in the animals and was so happy to see Hope get adopted. We also owe a tremendous amount of thanks to the canine coaches who worked with her while she was at the shelter. The socialization and training she got was invaluable. She was 5 months old when she came home with us and she knew how to sit and walk nicely on a leash and most importantly she was a happy puppy ready to explore the world around her. She does not spook easily and loves to meet people and see new places. This is not what most people think of when they think of adopting a shelter dog. During her time there, Saint Hubert’s really provided Delta with a temporary home and family, not just a shelter.

Since my parents moved us out from Brooklyn to NJ, we have visited St. Hubert's many, many times. Our cats Rosie & William were waiting for my sister & me our first Easter in NJ. Later I'll post a picture of the two of us with our "furry. purry" Easter baskets! After Rosie & William came Thinkie, then Madison, George, et al! The cats were all healthy, well cared for, and happy which in turn, made them wonderful pets for our family over the last 35 years!

    Pros

  • 101. A great adoption experience

    by: taramabbott

My husband and I adopted our dog Snickers from St. Hubert's in Madison in December 2007. We knew we wanted a young and active dog, but we were open to just about any kind of breed. Upon visiting the many dogs at the shelter, we fell in love with two dogs: a 1-yr-old coon hound mix and a 6-month-old beagle mix. If we could, we would have adopted both on the spot! But since we could only take one home with us, we spent a good amount of time interacting with both dogs to determine which would be the best fit with our family. The staff was patient as we spent time with the hound, then spent time with the beagle, then the hound, etc. They encouraged us to take our time in making a decision because not every dog is right for every family. Because the beagle mutt was so excitable and active, we knew he would be a perfect fit. We adopted Snickers that day, and haven't looked back! Thank you, St. Hubert's!!

    Pros

Staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable & patient

    Cons

The only bad thing for us was that Madison was an hour away (but totally worth the drive!)

    by: LogTavern

This shelter is exceptional. All the animals are cared for always. St. Hubert's also has an amazing and vibrant center with an extensive teaching facility to train you and your pet to become Therapy Handler and Therapy Dogs (or other animals), so that you both can go visit hospitals, libraries, nursing homes, etc, so the aged, the lonely, and children can interact with the pets. You have not truly seen the benefit until you see a patient with Alzheimer's reach out to pet a cat, or watch how fast a child with reading disabilities will eagerly read to a therapy dog! This is a wonderful, wonderful place, staffed with excellent folks. They deserve more help and attention!

    by: charlito

St. Huberts is a wonderful establishment. The people there are so friendly; one can tell immediately upon entering the shelter that all of the employees genuinely care about these animals and that they seek to place them with families that have the same love and respect. St. Huberts is affiliated with a SATO rescue organization, which is where our Charlie came from. Charlie f/k/a "Claude" was rescued from Puerto Rico about ten months ago and found his temporary sanctuary at St. Huberts. While at the shelter, he learned some basic training skills from the very experienced staff. My boyfriend met Charlie when he had just gotten to the shelter and saw what a great little pup he was, but he wasn't ready to be adopted yet. When he was ready for adoption a little while later, we drove down to NJ to pick him up. We were blown away with the customer service and how easy the adoption process was. We couldn't have asked for a better addition to the family! Although we don't exactly live close to the shelter, there is no doubt where our next dog will come from! Thanks, St. Huberts!!

    Pros

    very experienced and friendly staff

    Cons

no cons, but i wish i lived closer to the shelter!

  • 110. SAVED FROM PUERTO RICO....REGGIE

    by: pmessare

This is more of a story than a review but works as both. My family has been adopting from St Hubert's since I was a kid. All have lived loved and healthy lives. Later in life a was engaged and my fiance and I were living in Hoboken, NJ. Her lab Amber(not from St Hubert's) had passed prematurely due to a rare spinal cancer. Long story short, after awhile it was time to bring a new fluffy face back in our lives. I decided to take the ride back to where I grew up due to the fact of the past success I had had with great pets. This is when I met my puppy Reggie(who i named right then and there). I was told by the staff that he and his three brothers were part of a rescue mission from Puerto Rico a place that the locals had referred to as dead dog beach. I filled out my card hoping he would be a match for us and sure enough he was. Drove home that day with a little Reggie to surprise my fiance. Reggie now 2 and half years old now and has brought constant joy to our lives and everything you could want in a dog. Recently my wife and I had our 1st child and Reggie took to her side right away always keeping guard by her crib and waking us when she is crying. He is the best. Thanks St Hubert's for once again a job well done. BRAVO

  • 114. My adopted kittens

    by: Cruiser32

I adopted two 5 month old kittens fron St. Hubert's last year. They are awesome. They were born in the shelter. It was obvious they were really well taken care of. Both of them LOVE to be held so you know someone was doing that often to get them so used to it. This past Christmas I adopted another kitten from St. Hubert's. His name is Diesel because he purred so loud from day one. His name is perfect for him and he is perfect. He loves the other 2 cats, Chase and Dunkin. They play all day long, it is really fun to watch them. St. Hubert's really does good work and is a great place to adopt a pet from.

    Pros

    Knowledgeable, helpful and very careing

  • 115. Why on Earth

    by: staggerlee

Why on earth is a shelter with $15 MILLION in assets competing in a $1 million makeover? If you people were really concerned about the well-being of animals, you would realize money should go where it is needed, not where there is already an abundance of it. Ridiculous.

    Pros

    Seriously

    Cons

    by: jeffvernimb

A wonderful shelter staffed by people who work tirelessly and have the best interest of the animals in mind always. The Dog Training School is outstanding and the shelter does a terrific job taking the best practices in behavioral assessment and training into count with all adoptees.

    Pros

    Phenomenal staff

    Cons

    Honestly can't think of any

  • 119. Love this place

    by: BarbaraRushman

I adopted all four of my dogs here. When I got my first one I was told that she would benefit from training so I signed up at the school. Being a total dog novice, I would have been clueless, but was lead through learning to be a good dog owner. I've taken many classes at the school and continued from basic obedience to competition agility. I also volunteer at the shelter and impressed by the staff and the way they treat people coming into the shelter.

    Pros

Knowledgeable staff, associated dog training school, much more

    Cons

  • 120. Well-fostered and cared for kitten

    by: Norway

I adopted my kitten Norway in December 2008, when he was approximately 5 months old. I was amazed how well-fostered he was, as he adjusted readily, was curious, active, and sociable from the start. Clearly, there was a lot of "invisible" love behind Norway before he came to me.

    Pros

    Wide selection!

    Cons

Tight space for number of pets

  • 121. St huberts provides service with Girls Scouts

    by: kar2166

We love St. Huberts! The troop my daughter is in, took a tour of the facility, talked with staff, and met the animals. Everyone was friendly , and responded well to all questions! The place was clean, animals where well fed , and comfortable. THey encouraged the girls to volunteer, and showed them where donations go, and what was most needed for the animals. My girls will definitely be volunteering, and once a month we drop of bags of food for cats and dogs! We encourage others to do the same! I hope this group gets the makeover , the hard work and care they give the animals deserves to be rewarded, and the animals will ultimately benefit in the end!

    Pros

    FRiendly and supportive

    Cons

    Needs more volunteers

We adopted a dog from this shelter. They were extremely helpful and kind during the process and they even did a follow-up phone call to see how we and our dog were adjusting. Their character and behavior process was awesome for us and our princess. We meshed and haven't looked back yet. If you are thinking of adopting a pet I would definitely use St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center.

    by: PLD

This facility is so much more than just a shelter. They have wonderful programs like Canine Coach and Feline Friends, where volunteers work with the animals to make them more adoptable, plus a great foster program. Programs also include Humane Education, a pet loss group, community service, Paws for People (visiting nursing homes, hospitals, etc.). This is a wonderful place, and they are now trying to expand the facility.

  • 126. Just LOVE St. Hubert's!

    by: Captainswoman

I LOVE MY DOG!!! He is a St. Hubert's adoptee. The only "con" is that they are in desperate need of a consolidated state of the art facility to house their school, shelter facilities and doggy day camp! They have already submitted plans are are ready to break ground. All they need is money! In this tough economy I can't think of a more worthy cause than for St. Hubert's to win the Zootoo makeover! My girlfriend recently visited St. Hubert's with her daughter's girl scout troop and she was so impressed with the program! She is telling everyone she knows how wonderful and knowledgable the staff is and how organized and welcoming they were. She knows that our Captain is a St. Hubert's rescue, and raves to everyone about what a gentle and beautiful dog he is. Also, St. Hubert's rescues many dogs from overcrowded "kill" facilities in West Virginia, as well as many dogs from "Dead Dog Beach" in Puerto Rico. These dogs come to St. Hubert's and are rehabilitated into loving pets who find "forever homes". Please support St. Hubert's! RoseMarie

    Pros

Knowledgable, efficient, economical, a worthy charity!

    Cons

They NEED a new facility to expand their wonderful services!

    by: sandymainardi

St. Hubert's is a very well run organization dedicated to helping animals in need as well as educating the humans who love them. They have a lot to offer anyone with pets who want to have fun, train and/or compete (with dogs anyway). They have cats and dogs for adoption. They put a lot of effort into correcting any behavioral problems in order to make adoptions successful and to match the right pet to person(s). It's a great place to get involved with in one way or another!

    Pros

    close to home

    Cons

  • 129. Simply the Best

    by: swampdog

This place is great! My wife and I adopted our two cats here. The cats were fixed and completely up to date on their shots. The facility was bright, clean and they allowed you to spend real time with the animals you are considering adopting in private visiting rooms. We also took our rambunctious puppy there for obedience and agility training and now she is a well behaved dog. St. Huberts has been around as long as I can remember and I've always viewed it in a positive light. Now that I am more involved with this shelter I can truly see how important they are for the surrounding community. The staff is very dedicated to helping animals but also educating people on how to properly treat animals. They not only offer obedience training, but sports and specialty training. They have grief counseling for lost pets, doggie day care, animal rescue, and they partner with other shelters to help animals find great homes. Truly a great shelter!

    Pros

Dog training, Education, adoption, grief counseling, experienced, friendly, and knowledgeable staff

    Cons

    none

  • 130. St. Huberts - amazing training program

    by: tedmc54

I was at my wits ends with my 85 lb "puppy" Patches, a mixed English Springer Spaniel/Border Collie. I had no idea how to work with his extreme reaction to other dogs while on leash - I had no control. We are now long attendees of their Feisty Fido program. We attended Feisty 2/On Leash for several years. The family would laugh when, at the end of every session - yes, we did graduate and were still invited back to repeate the same class! Now Patches is the "old man" (I guess I am too!) - kind of the "every dog" that won't necesarily play but will not take or give bad attitude either. We have expanded our activities to include training in agility, great out doors and now tracking. My other non-feisty dog, Libby (ESS), comes with us to class and herself is becoming quite an accomplished tracker - we hope to get certified this year. The training program is guided by heart and all the staff are very good. Courses are excellent, indoors or out.

    Pros

Extremely animal friendly; excellent training program

    Cons

    trapped in New Jersey!

  • 140. Fantastic Staff, Truly Remarkable

    by: GoldenRetrieverCrazy

Anybody who visits the shelter sees all of the animals happy and in clean cages. What they don’t see is how much hard work it takes to maintain this image. When I was a little kid I used to always say that the cats and dogs had such a good life in a shelter. Yes, all of the animals at St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center are very well taken care of and live a good life during the time they are there, but it takes so much work to keep it that way. There are those animals that came from homes where they were spoiled, there are those who had been poorly treated, and some animals that never even had a home. All of the shelter’s staff and volunteers make sure that no-matter where an animal has come from; it gets a very high dosage of love and care. Whenever somebody adopts an animal they should acknowledge the staff/volunteers for their extremely hard work and thank them because if they were not as fabulous as they are, that newly adopted animal may not have found a home. \n\nI have been a volunteer at St. Hubert’s since I was nine. However, until recently, all of my work was mainly at the Dog Training School and at major events. This past August, I was given the opportunity to help out at the shelter. The day I spent there showed me how phenomenal the staff and volunteers really are. When I arrived that morning, I was full of energy and ready to go. By the time I left only six hours later, almost every muscle and bone ached in my body. I did any job from wiping out cages, to feeding the animals; doing dishes to doing the laundry. You would be surprised how much laundry there is to do. All in all, it was a hard day as well as a fun one, but I still don’t know how everybody over there can work that hard every single day. \n\nThree of my dogs came from St. Hubert’s, and it is really nice to know that during their stay they got the TLC they deserved.\n\n

    by: jjw990

I first became involved with St. Hubert's when I was fourteen. At the time, we had completed all of the extremely well taught canine training courses with our, now late, golden retriever. The educational opportunities St. Hubert's offers dog's (and their humans!) is unmatched. My whole family became certified therapy dog handlers, and often assisted in other events with the shelter. St. Hubert's offers a loving environment for pets, and a welcoming one for pet owners.

    Pros

  • 143. St. Hubert's Dog Training School

    by: edithnotto

I have been a volunteer at the Dog Training School for many years. I love the chance to work with the very professional staff, and in return I learn something new every day that I can take home to share with my pet so she does not get too lazy in her older years. The staff believes in positive reinforcement and step by step learning for the dogs and their owners. The school was started many years ago when it became obvious that the shelter was full of half grown dogs who were out of control The courses are updated often to keep up with the latest methods. And I love the chance to coach an owner to success. \r\nI am a very lucky volunteer.

    Pros

some of these trainer think like dogs!!!

    Cons

facility is not one bit fancy - needs this make over!!!

  • 144. Been around forever

    by: sparky72

I've adopted many cats here. They've been around forever and are well known in the area. I only wish they would give back more the community like helping with the feral cat problem in surrounding towns. If I adopted again I'd probably adopt from a different shelter that is over crowded and really needs the money from the adoption fee.

    Pros

    Good reputation

    Cons

Doesn't do much for the community

  • 145. If I were an animal . . .

  • 146. A Wonderful Place For Animals

    by: Madimoo

I was referred to St Huberts by a shelter in my town who could not take a malnourished kitten I found on the highway. It was after 5pm and most people were on their way home. I called the shelter and the President, Elizabeth McCorkle answered and said she'd wait for me to bring the kitten in. She took the kitten home with her that evening and nurtured the kitten as best as she could for 4 more days. She and I spoke every day until the day I was to pick up the kitten to foster it. Elizabeth called me to tell me the kitten didn't make it. She was very sad and asked if I wanted to come in to possibly help to foster another kitten that was recently brought in. I did and wound up adopted him. I felt the response time with St. Huberts was a amazingly fast and the volunteers and staff were always so quick to help with anything! Elizabeth showed me around and I found the animals were well taken care of and loved and the place was very clean.

    Pros

Good amount of property for dogs to run around

    Cons

Cats should have a larger room with space to stretch their legs and play.

    by: petdoctor25

There is love in the air. And last time I checked, it wasn't February. When you walk through the doors of St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, your heart blooms because the care, compassion and love is everywhere. Dedication runs deep and the proof is at every corner and in every crevice. As one of the vets who volunteers weekly at the center, I have firsthand experience of the phenomenal care the animals receive. From bottle babies to the largest mixed breed, the animals are well cared for and receive top-notch attention. The staff is extraordinary.\n\nBut what about the animals? Cute, fuzzy, furry, lovable, sweet, and loyal are a few of the words I'd start with. I'd also add intelligent, adorable, kind, playful, spirited, huggable, funny, warm...ok, you get the idea. St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center is excellent across the board. When I was a vet in private practice, it was THE place I'd send my clients when they were ready to bring home a new member of the family. To this day, St. Hubert's still tops my list and it is the highlight of my week when I go volunteer!

    Pros

caring and compassionate staff, knowledgeable and insightful supervisers, adorable animals!

I was really impressed when my cousin Edith took me for the first time to St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center.\n\nI was allowed to assist to dog training, and admitted to the dog shelter too.\n\nI wish I lived in NJ and take my little pests there to learn good manners. I tried to find here in Italy trainers but honestly I never found trainers who really understood and loved dogs as much as I saw at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center.\n\nI was in awe of everybody: the staff, the volunteers. However who impressed me most was Pia Silvani.\n\n

    by: Carrot

This is an excellent dog training school. I have been looking for a program for aggressive dogs for at least half a year. Not only it was very difficult to find any (most schools just do not deal with aggressive dogs - I tried at least three different ones), it was hard to decide which one to choose. Two people recommended this school to me and one of them is a director of another training school in New Jersey. Our dog is going to Fiesty Fidos program and it is amazing how much I learned, how much our dog learned and how friendly and helpful the trainers are! Simply the best!

    Pros

very knowledgable dog trainers in the Dog school

    Cons

I have to drive 1 hour one way but it is worth it!

    by: MTrezza

I have supported St. Hubert's for many, many years. They are a full-service shelter. They bring education to the community and can do so much more if they had more room. I love their Meet Your Match program and the fact that they bring dogs up from other shelters, saving them from being euthanized due to space. Lastly, the dog training school is nationally recognized as the best. Thank you St. Huberts! Keep up the good work.

    Cons

Not enough room to care for the animals - need a makeover

  • 156. Knowledgeable staff

I feel this facility is great. I have a Siberian Husky that attended their obedience classes and is not in their tracking classes and she seems to get very excited whenever we get close to the place. I also have a German Shephard Dog who had big issues with people and/or animals getting anywhere near me when she was a little over a year old. She is now 12 years old as is my siberian husky. My mom passed away when both of my dogs were a little over a year old and then the 16 year old mixed breed dog had to be put to sleep two weeks later due to blood in her lungs. These incidences upset me a great deal and my husky went into depression so I think my GSD felt she needed to step into the leadership role. With the help and devotion of Vinny Catalano at the facility I can now take my GSD out in public without fearing that she would try to chase someone away from me. I think everyone there is great.

    Pros

They are very patient and devoted to each animal.

    Cons

This is an excellent shelter. The only negative is that they need more space to play with the animal when you are trying to decide if the animal is right for you. They are very clean and knowledgeable. They obviously really love the animals and have their best interest in mind. They are very careful to place an animal with the right owner. I highly recommend them.

  • 165. Best Place to Volunteer!

    by: amfeldman67

Since my first day volunteering at St. Hubert's I felt like I was where I belonged. The staff are friendly and always say "thank you" when I'm leaving (which I never expect!). I feel good about volunteering at this shelter because they truly care about the dogs. I was lucky enough to adopt a puppy from them and they were very dedicated to matching up the right puppy with my family. It was a smooth, efficient adoption process and we love our puppy. \r\nEvery week when I volunteer in the kennel, I always smile when I see a dog has been adopted because I just know they went home with a great family. I look forward to seeing the staff and the new dogs that have found their way into St. Hubert's along the journey to their forever home.\r\nI hope to continue volunteering at St. Hubert's for many years to come.

    Pros

The shelter is extremely grateful for their volunteers. They always accomodate my schedule and welcome my help whenever I can give it.

    Cons

I'd volunteer more but I have school aged kids!

  • 166. St. Huberts

    by: doggx1895

This is a GREAT organization that tries everything it can to help not only local animals, but all animals. St. Hubert's has a great community outreach to try to not only raise money to operate and expand, but also to get people involve in helping animals and to better have animals help people. St. Hubert's also reaches out to animals in devastation (such as after Hurricane Katrina) and does all that it can to help as many as it can.

    Pros

lots of community outreach and great volunteer oppurtunities!

    Cons

need more room to better help animals

I have been a supporter of St. Hubert's for many years. My dogs and I have completed numerous obedience classes at the Dog Training School and their progress is amazing thanks to the wonderful "curriculum," amazing trainers, and volunteers. Everyone at St. Hubert's is friendly and professional. It is an outstanding center that offers so much to both animals and pet owners.

  • 173. LuLu

    by: RDV

LuLu is my 3 1/2 year old adopted mix. She came to St Hubert's with her sister from SC. where she had run wild for the first 3 months of her life. The trainers saw something special in her - and old soul. Even though she was very fearful they worked with her every day. I took her home to see how she would do with my 2 goldens - I was just going to foster her until she could be placed. But she found her forever home with me and my goldens thanks to Vinne and Pia.

    Pros

They try to place dogs & Cat in forever homes

    Cons

They realy need more room for staff and animales

  • 174. The Real Deal

    by: BuilderBob

St. Hubert's has been in the forefront of animal welfare for years. A leader in training, shelter practices and humane education. All they need to expand their range of influence is a new building with a septic system that won't quit!

    Pros

    Dedicated Staff, comprehensive programs

    Cons

    outdate building

  • 175. St. Huberts

    by: CraigR

We've been taking Sierra (now 4 y/o) to various classes at St. Hubert's since she was a puppy, and in all of those classes, the "teachers" have been caring, knowledgeable and firm. The facilities are excellent, except for a fence in the large pen, that has been worsening over the past few months. We plan to continue to enrill Sierra in St. Hubert's classes, so that she (and we!) can continue to benefit from the ongoing training and socialization she gets there.

    Pros

Extremely knowledgeable and caring staff; excellent facilities

    Cons

A fence in the large pen that is in need of repair is the only "con" I can identify.

  • 176. Excellent place to find a pet!

    by: whitsmom

I have adopted 2 pets in the last year from St Hubert's and the staff was right on with the pets that they recommended for me to take home. They both fit right into our family and they all get along famously! Although I had my mind set on a dog or two that they told me wouldn't fit into our family, I now see that they were exactly right! One was too young and the other too active - it just wouldn't have worked out with them. I went in with my heart speaking to me and they talked me through making the right decisions for my home and for the pets that I already had. They know which home is right for the pet and which pet is right for the home! I tell everyone I know that is looking for a pet to go to St. Hubert's!

    Pros

Staff is in it for the animals!

    Cons

    none

  • 177. You can't go wrong at St. Hubert's

    by: Maddiemoney

I've adopted 9 pets from St. Hubert's over the years and I have found the staff to be incredibly knowledgable and helpful in what ca often be a difficult situation. If you are considering adopting an animal I recommend that you visit one of their two shelters and see for yourself. They also have a terrific dog training school that you should attend if you are adopting a dog. Or if you already have a dog but he/she needs to learn some manners or you want to teach him/her some tricks then you should take a class or invite a behaviorist to help you out.

    Pros

    Well Rounded Entity

    Cons

    needs to be renovated

  • 178. Animal Rescue and Adoption

    by: rfrandall

St Hubert's Animal Welfares ACO's have rescued everything from dogs and cats, to kangaroos and turkey vulchers. If the animal in question is not a cat or dog, it is handed off to the appropriate organization. Cats and dogs are carefully screened and catagorized. When a potential adopter requests an adoption, the adopter is also carefully screened,(to be sure they are right for the animal they have picked). Dogs and cats are also rescued from overcrowded shelters in places like Mississippi, West Virginia and Puerto Rico. Overall, I think St. Hubert's is one of the best rescue/adoption facilities in our area.

    Pros

    knowledgable staff,well organized,clean,open Saturday & Sunday

    Cons

    very old infrastucture,limited space,

  • 179. A model for other animal shelters

    by: Mmouse

St. Hubert's has been a part of my life since acquiring my first dog some 15 years ago. Their training school has always emphasized compassionate positive methods. These same methods are used for incoming shelter dogs to help ensure the best chance for placement in new homes. They do a great job evaluating animals' temperament to help place each one in the right homes.\n\nWith my second dog, a St Hubert's graduate, we participate in Paws for People pet therapy and it's been mutually rewarding for all involved - human and canine!

    Pros

Clean kennels, dog training, community outreach

    Cons

  • 181. Not just a shelter....

    by: sunnygirlsjc

I've been around and involved with the organization in some way, shape or form for over 3 years. I have recommended the shelter and the dog training school to many people. I feel confident that any family looking for a great pet will find an animal that has been responsibly observed and tested to fit into their lifestyle! Plus those who adopt from St Hubert's get a discount on excellent training classes at the school. \n\nDid you know that St Hubert's now offers training classes in Bridgewater, NJ? Check out their website for more info and class schedules !!

St. Hubert's offers so many programs, not just to help homeless pets, but to help keep pets in their homes. Humane education programs and the Dog Training School help humans learn how to live happily ever after with their fur friends and babies. St. Hubert's training approach is focused on strengthening the human-animal bond and preventing problems before they occur. It is a great place to learn and have to have fun!!!!

  • 186. So much more than an animal shelter

    by: AlpacaJen

I have volunteered and supported St. Hubert's for many years. I've taken my dogs to dog training school, my dogs have been certified as pet therapy animals for years and I've volunteered to support fundraising events. I've alwasy found that the staff was truly dedicated to the cause and cared deeply for the animals they care for. I've spent most of my life working in the corporate world and when I was "liberated" from that job, I decided to put my skills to work in an organization where the results could be seen on a daily basis. I've worked for St. Hubert's for just under a year and I learn something new every day about the services we provide to both the animals and the communities we server. It is truly a small group of dedicated staff doing a termendous amount of work. Our shelter staff is amazing and I am not just saying that because I work here - it's the truth. They do an outstanding job and it's not an easy one. St. Hubert's is not just an adoption/shelter facility. Please check out our website and learn about all the services we offer www.sthuberts.org. You will be happy you did! Thanks for your support!

    Pros

Small group of caring staff doing a BIG jog

    Cons

More space needed to more great works

  • 187. Great shelter!

    by: goldtoo

I've adopted two dogs from St. Hubert's in the past 20 years. Both were great dogs...the last one became a Therapy Dog. Staff is knowledgeable and truly concerned with the welfare of the dogs and making the right match. It's a shame the facility is small and truly outdated - but the staff does the best they can.

    Pros

staff takes time to make the right match

    Cons

    too small, too old

  • 188. Terrific establishment

    by: petes99

I've been to St Huberts countless times. Laid on a large plot of land, the shelter is actually smaller than you'd expect. Very clean however, and very well kept. St Huberts is actively involved with many rescue organizations, from natural disaster victims to Sato's from Dead Dog Beach. The dogs leave here with an education, as volunteers take the them to class and socialize them during their tenure.

    Pros

    knowledgeable staff

    Cons

    limited space

  • 190. Pet Loss Support

    by: drambuie

St. Hubert's Pet Loss Group has been available for almost 20 years and has provided caring and non-judgemental counsel for many people. The loss of a pet can be devastating and it is often hard to find others who understand the variety of feelings.\r\nThe pet loss group was formed for that exact reason. Thanks to the dedicated therapists, Nancy Saxton Lopez and Ken Dolan-DelVecchio, the group continues to provide a supportive environment for pet lovers.

    Pros

    great therapists, no cost

    Cons

    limited times

  • 191. Training for both you AND your dog!

    by: JohnH

Their training is very hands on. Small classes allow the trainers enough time to give one on one training as well. The classes have great structure teaching everything from simple commands to the very important yet often forgotten socialization. Classes have late slots so there is no need to rush there right after work. A definitely recomended training facility.

    Pros

    Classes are usually small

    Cons

It does get kind of expensive

    by: RuleBritannia52

St. Hubert's has been around in Madison, NJ forever. Everyone who went to one of the local schools remembers fondly when St. Hubert's would bring in a few of their star pets to teach us little kids about how to treat and care for animals. \r\nI know that I used to go there often, just for fun, to look at the animals and that it was through St. Hubert's that my family adopted our wonderful dog.\r\nThis is a great program and a great facility, and if you live within 20 miles, you probably already know that. \r\nIt also helps that they have suprisingly frequent ice cream socials.

    Pros

Great staff, setup, animals, training, care and outreach program

    Cons

    none.
