  • 1. Where we found our beloved "Pearl"

    by: Racegirl

1 1/2 Years ago we found our beloved cat Pearl online at this shelter. She was six months old at the time. She is now just about two. We found a gem in this cat. She was as healthy as could be, and all her needs were being met at the shelter. She is quite the source of entertainment and love for us. The folks that work and volunteer there, are very knowledgeable and oh so caring. we love our Pearl!

    Pros

They keep dogs and cats seperated

  • 2. Sparky Jane is Doing Fine

    by: eileen510

I saw this shelter on Show Me St. Louis several years ago when they had just rescued a group of dogs from a hoarder. My family went to the facility the very next day and we found our Sparky Jane. She was a scraggly, scared schnauzer mix who immediately became ours. The people and the facility made a lasting positive impression on us. We are grateful that they made the effort to save our girl for us. Thanks St. Charles Humane Society!

  • 4. When we lived in St. Charles County, we were delighted to see this shelter come about and survive against the odds as a no-kill shelter. They remain a great service to animals and the area.

  • 5. This shelter has been a no-kill facility for years

    by: shihtzuluv

Its been a few years ago, but our family knows this shelter from when we lived in the St. Charles area. Our experience there was that they really care about the animals and the community they serve. This shelter is a great service in their area. They deserve the support of their area. We wish them the best in this contest, and in their continuing efforts for animals too. We fully appreciate the commitment it takes to keep an effort like this going, because we have family intimately involved in a no-kill shelter too.

    Pros

good work, good staff, no kill facility

    Cons

never had a negative experience with this shelter

I work at a rock quarry. I actually float so I have several different locations I go too. On Wednesdays I am in Wright City and a few weeks ago I came in to find a cat so I brought her in here with me. She was so loving and she was hungry. Well I was calling around to find out who could come and get her so she wouldn't be hurt here in the quarry and I had talked to the police and they had someone call me. It took her a few hours to call me back but in the mean time I was calling around to some shelters and St Charles is one that I had called. She gave me information of someone I could call and then I had their address so that way if nobody called me back I could atleast drop the kitty off here on my way home. But I was lucky and the Super of the quarry took her home and I also found out he was feeding her. St Charles shelter has a very nice staff.

    Pros

    Very nice staff

    Cons

  • 8. Great place .. They respect the lives of animals ... they are a no kill shelter!

    by: CSommer

Hope that their dream to grow into a larger no-kill shelter comes true soon. There are way too many furry friends that are killed needlessly.\r\n\r\n

    Pros

Love Animals and are willing to help

    Cons

The size of the facility is small... if they could grow, boy how they could help the furry ones.

    by: julzz1313

They work with their limited resources. They really are in if to help the animals. The animals are all well cared for but they could use donations even of usable pet items to keep them going.

    Pros

Caring people who really want to help the animals!

    Cons

    Small.....

  • 11. Wonderful, great shelter!!!!

    by: hustonzoo

We went in search of a cat for my daughter as a surprise birthday present...After 3 years of begging her dad he finally gave in! Her brother picked out the cat and the staff was great and gave us lots of time to meet the cats we were considering...We thank the St. Charles Humane Society for the wonderful, caring, and compassionate job they do...We love our cat Snickers! She rules the roost, even over the 85lb. dog!

    Pros

Great people and great pets looking for homes

    Cons

    Smaller shelter

    by: sarahcowdry

I brought a cat that I had found here to be checked for a microchip! The volunteers there were so nice and helpful and genuinely cared about the animals. It is nice to see a shelter like this, with so many out there that don't REALLY care for the animals. Keep up the good work guys!

    Pros

    Very Nice

    Cons

    Very Small (not their fault)

  • 15. A Big family of animals and people

    by: hiddendolphin

Vollenteering at the St. Charles Humane Society is the most rewarding experience for me. Everyone at the shelter is amazing and the animals are all so loving. \r\nQuite honestly the best shelter I have ever been to.

    Pros

The staff is very helpful and care deeply about the animals, the place is clean, and animals are not euthinized

    Cons

Could use a little more spacious area

  • 16. Little Shelter with the Big Heart

    by: klrful

I'm fortunate to be involved with St. Charles Humane Society and all the animals that pass through the doors of this shelter. The conditions are crowded and more room is needed, but many lives have been saved by the wonderful volunteers and staff working hard to help as many as possible.

    Pros

    Has saved many lives

    Cons

    Too crowded
