  • 1. They do great things for the animals

    by: swell42001

I used to be a volunteer for this shelter. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgable. They do great things for the animals including their new spay/neuter clinic and pet food pantry programs. All animals who make it to the Curtis Dr. center will stay there until they are adpoted, unfortunatly, they do not have the space to take in every animal that comes in.

    Pros

New Spay/Neuter Clinic and Pet Food Pantry Programs

    Cons

They are not a No Kill Shelter

I currently volunteer for the SPCA of Wake County. I love the facility and love helping people find dogs suited to what they want are are looking for. The staff is all amazingly friendly, I love everyone that works there! The dogs are not just in crates, they are in spacious bedrooms that hold 3-4 dogs each, which is pretty amazing. Kitties aren't in cages either, they are in one of 4 bedrooms each with about 15-ish cats in them. It really is an awesome building. Puppies are in "tubs" which allow for easy cleanup. The only con I have about the place is that some of the volunteers don't really have any idea what they're talking about. Being a volunteer myself, I know exactly how it all goes down, and some of them just don't know their stuff. The adoption process may be long, but this is actually a good thing in disguise. We do this so that the animals don't end up in the hands of the wrong people. All in all, this is probably one of my favorite shelters ever. :)

    Pros

    beautiful facility

    Cons

some volunteers don't know what they are talking abot

  • 3. SPCA needs more help

    by: cntforever1998

I like the fact that they help animals. I don't like that they are a not a no kill shelter. The staff could be a little nicer.Maybe if they had more staff they would be.

    Pros

    Help animals

    Cons

Sometimes clean,Not enough staff,Staff not always nice

  • 4. Great Place

    by: Fattygirl218

I love this place I am going to their food drive tomorrow to pick up food for my jackson boo!! They always have different events going on for pet owners \n\n

    Pros

they have an up to date events calendar available on the net, they have an actual pet store on the premises where the proceeds go to help those animals, the staff are all very very nice and knowledgeable, They always have classes which inform you of different things about your pets

    Cons

not any really, except if you want to volunteer there you have to sit through a very very boring class that runs for 3-4 consecutive hours

  • 5. nice facility!

    by: xxsunshinexx

This is a great facility and they have TONS of wonderful animals.\n\nTheir adoption process is a GREAT thing, and the adoption fee covers everything you need (vaccines, spay/neuter, microchips)...\n\nMany people get very discouraged because of the lengthy and thorough adoption process...but it really does weed out the bad apples.\n\nThis shelter is no-kill, but this means they DO have a limit to the number of intakes. The shelter DOES euthanize animals who become sick, ill-tempered, or who are deemed unadoptable. \n\nPLEASE NOTE: The wake county SPCA and the WAKE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER are two VERY different shelters!!!

    Pros

great staff, wonderful pets, good adoption process

    Cons

    very thorough adoption process???
