    by: williamsperson

I took my daughter there about a year and a half ago to get another cat. We got a little male, who we had for five days. He was so sick and we took him to the vet 4 days out of the 5, only to have to put him down on the 5th day. We all cried like babies. We then got another cat a couple of months later that they replaced the kitten with. He's been wonderful, but we never got paper work back on him. I don't know if he's been chipped or not. Next time I take him for shots I'll have to have them check and hopefully will be able to transfer it. This could be a problem. I was a bit dissapointed with the first kitten we got, but we're really happy with our Wills. So we're grateful for that.

    Pros

    replaced animal at no charge

    Cons

sick animals and no paperwork, hard to get a hold of.

  • 2. Most caring People

    by: Jschenck

This shelter has the most caring people that I have ever seen. They care so much about the dogs that they foster that it shows in thier everyday conversation. They all work so hard to find homes for each of the little babies that it is amazing.

We adopted a dog "Max" about a year ago from the St. Francois Society, and everyone we came in contact with was very kind and knowledgeable, we have contacted them a few times with questions and they always had an answer for us and are very caring. Everytime we visit the Petsmart in South County, they always seem to have volunteers in with the animals taking care of them and playing with them. I would adopt another animal from them anytime.\r\n\r\nThank you.

  • 5. My sister is a foster.

    by: jpayne

My sister is a foster for St Francois Society and she is nuts about her fosters. Everything I hear is about how wonderful the ladies are at the adoption events at the South County PetSmart. She has had some very adorable puppies & kittens. She takes fostering seriously. If there is a time she is not able to pick up or drop off her fosters she enlists my help because it is important that they get their chand at adoption. If my dog wasn't so old I think she could talk me into fostering too. Whenever I have gone up for adoption events the ladies are always happy to see the fosters. They are very knowledgeable, caring and friendly. If you are ever looking for a new pet check out St Francois Society. The ladies know what they have because all their dogs are being fostered in their homes. Rarely do they come from the shelter without being fostered first. They are there on the first and second Saturday and every Sunday each month. Take a peek.

  • 6. My favorite shelter.

    by: lilstrawberri63

My family fosters dogs and on occasion, cats for this shelter. On adoption day, which is every Saturday and the first and second Sunday of every month we take our fosters up for adoption. Almost every dog (and cat) that the 2 ladies have up for adoption are fostered in their loving homes. I enjoy taking our foster up to the south county PetSmart and cuddling with all the pets. They can answer questions on a first hand basis. A lot of times they have rescued pregnant dogs and have their puppies from birth until adoption. Unfortunately, as with other shelters, not all dogs come from foster homes, they come straight from the shelter. This might be a way you can help your local shelter. There just isn't enough foster homes to go around.

    Pros

Adoptions are held close to home.

    Cons

    n/a

    Pros

    Cons

  • 8. GREAT SHELTER

    by: WANSTREET

THE LADIES THAT HOLD ADOPTIONS AT THE SOUTH COUNTY PETSMART ARE WONDERFUL PET LOVING LADIES. ALL THEY WANT IS FOR THE PETS TO GET THEIR PERFECT LOVING FOREVER HOME. EVEN THOUGH THINGS CAN GET A LITTLE DISCOURGING SOMETIMES, THEY KEEP PLUGGING AWAY. THEY ARE VERY INFORMED ABOUT THE PETS THEY BRING UP FOR ADOPTION BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY FOSTER THEM IN THEIR HOME. THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT CATS AND DOGS IN GENERAL. I KNOW I HAVE LEARNED QUITE A BIT FROM THEM AFTER FOSTERING THIS PAST YEAR. THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT THE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF THEIR FOSTERS.

    Pros

    CARING & LOVING STAFF

    Cons
