    by: gtfg

I'm writing this review because this veterinary hospital really rubbed me the wrong way. I've been a vet tech for 5 years and I only took my roommate's cat here because she is out of town and this is her usual vet. I dropped off a fecal sample that was positive for tapeworms (they're not easy to miss-- squirming rice shaped buggers) and expected a call with a prescription dewormer. However, they called me back saying the fecal was negative. At this point I thought perhaps they were right, and maybe I would just keep an eye on the cat's stool-- maybe it had run it's course. Well, about two weeks later the cat pooped outside the litterbox and there they were again. I immediately put the sample in a ziploc and took it up to the vet. I explained to them the situation and they took it back to analyze. A few minutes later they came back saying there were no tapeworms to be found, and that I was probably just mistaking the worms for cat litter. Then one of the girls jumped in saying "I searched through the sample and I didn't see anything. Tapeworms are like, long..." Anyone who has dealt with tapeworms before understands that they shed in segments. They said they would give me the dewormer just in case. I explained to them I knew what I saw, and I wish they would just bring the sample back out and I could show them the worms. After checking out (and being charged for 2 fecal flotations) another employee said sarcastically to me "good luck with that..." I could not be more DISAPPOINTED with the rude attitude of the staff, who had no problems INSULTING my intelligence. Perhaps the veterinarian was in the back working miracles, and I just caught an employee or two on a bad day, but I thought everyone should know this story. I'd also like to point out this was the buttonwood location.

  • 2. The best vet in Columbia

    by: magicsuks

I cannot say enough about Dr. Rose and his staff. He has the patience of a saint with my two little monsters and he is extremely knowledgable. There have been times where we have had serious things going on with our boys and Dr. Rose is always willing to stay late or come in on his day off to take care of them. He is very serious, and dedicated to his profession. It is obvious that he cares very much for his patients and will help in any way that he can.

    Pros

    Patience and knowledge

    Cons

    Nothing!

  • 3. Boarding my dachshunds...

    by: mizzoux1

Office staff knows my dogs when I show up...surprises me as I get there once or twice a year. The boarding staff remembered the dogs well and knew the kind of treatment that I expected. Been going here for several years - never a problem.

    Pros

Staff is always ready to accept my 3 mini-dachshunds.

    by: Akj7td

Rolling Hills is a fantastic animal hospital. They give my dogs the love and attention that they need (deserve). They also have a good variety of vet's available.

    Pros

    Very friendly staff

    Cons

Since everyone loves them so much it's hard to kennel your dog there due to them being booked.

  • 7. They're the best!

    by: Meg8777

Dr. Rose and his staff are all great. Kathy, Casey, Diana, and Bobette are the nicest people you could come across. Not only do they remember you and your pets, but they have a sense of humor and lighten your day while you're there. Dr. Rose is just a nice guy, period. He knows his stuff and takes the time to listen to every stupid question you could think of. He also stays current on the latest medical issues. We've taken all our dogs and our cat to him- and when our oldest pup started having a sudden onset of symptoms a year ago, he immediately picked up on an emerging disease that the vet school is just now beginning to research. In fact, he caught it early enough and sent us to the main researcher in time that we actually managed to save our dog. I definitely recommend this clinic.

    Pros

They know their stuff and care about your pets.

    Cons

    none.

    by: maedke

I have nevet met Dr. Rose but I thought I should write about the experience of a customer of mine. Years ago, he had a pregnant Siberian Husky. One day she became very lethargic. He took her to her vet ( I will not say who or where. He sais he is not even sure this guy is still there anyway) and this vet insisted he could find nothing wrong. So my customer took her home. She did not improve and stopped eating. He took her back two more times only to hear the same thing. The vet said to stop bringing her, there was nothing he could do. Frustrated, he had heard of Dr. Rose and took her there. Dr. Rose said she needed an emergency C-section NOW. They did. All puppies except one were dead and it had caused a massive infection. The huskey did not survive because the surgery was too late. Had the other vet done this from the start, she would possibly have pulled through. Anyway, my customer's dogs will be lifelong Dr. Rose patients. I have never heard anything at all negative about him!

    Pros

    appears to be all

    Cons

  • 12. highly recommended

    by: hrstansbury

My cat had to stay at Rolling Hills for a few days while fighting hepatic lipidosis. If it weren't for Dr. Greg Jagdfeld and the rest of the staff there, I don't think Tony would've pulled through. I'm very grateful to them and wouldn't hesitate for a second to bring my pets back there or recommend them to a friend. Sidenote: Our regular vet is from a different office and does house calls, and he's the one who referred us to Greg for this particular situation. He said Greg is the vet his pets go to if he's out of town. A vet recommended vet seems like a pretty shining endorsement to me. :)

    Pros

    Very caring, knowledgable staff

    Cons

    none

  • 13. The best staff, vets and boarding around!

    by: soul2soledogwalker

I have been a customer since 1991...that should say it all! I absolutely love Kathy, she is the one that greets you at the front desk. Kathy always takes such good care of everyone that walks through that door...with a smile and can do attitude. Greg and Cortney are just two of the professional vets that have taken care of my dogs. They are always kind and compassionate with all of their needs. In addition to regular check ups, we also send our dogs to their daycare..from time to time. They always come home and crash, which translates to a good time had by all. When we go out-of-town we board our dogs there, too. We have used the grooming service and I love the way they come home smelling...less fur is a bonus, too. I could go on and on, but I always recommend Rolling Hills on Buttonwood Drive to everyone! THX Guys!!

    Pros

Excellent customer service and TLC for your pets.

    Cons

    Can't think of one!

  • 15. Great Vet

    by: TimKridel

We've been taking all of our pets to Rolling Hills since mid-2007, when we moved back to Columbia. I think Dr. Rose, the co-owner, is now the only vet working out of this location. He's excellent. Thorough and knowledgeable with both cats and dogs. My only complaint is that they've stopped carrying Heartgard, which my dogs take with no complaints. Fortunately they can get Heartgard on request from their other location.

    Pros

Usually easy to get an appointment

    Cons

    Doesn't always have Heartgard

    by: jrzjess15

Dr. Rose and his staff are all very caring for the animals that come into their office. It is a very relaxed environment, and a very nice place to go with your pets. My family takes our dog, and cat to Dr. Rose's office for check-ups and anything else we might need. Dr. Rose was great when he came to our house in January of 2007 to come and put Tasha to sleep.

    Pros

    great, friendly staff

    Cons

  • 18. Dr. Rose is Supervet

    by: matt2626

Great people. Great service. Dr. Rose knows his stuff. Nobody ever acts like you've asked a stupid question. They always listen to you. They always consider your crazy hypothesis that you got off the Internet. All my pets even love them (except Bano Libre and she just doesn't know them well enough yet). Even easy to get in, which is crazy considering I've recommended them to everyone in a 50 mile radius.

    Pros

There's not enough room to list here

    Cons

    Best vet I've seen

  • 19. Great vet!

    by: akniki

I love this vet clinic! They are very supprotive and relatively inexpensive. They are easy to work with and are willing to stay a little late in order to see your animal. I take my dog in every month to get weighed and get his heartworm as well as my foster Greyhounds. Obviously a great vet clinic if they are used by some of the best rescue groups in the state!

    Pros

    Very knowledgable! Very Helpful! Inexpensive!

    Cons

do not work on rodents, but rolling hills on buttonwood does!
