  • 1. wonderful shelter

    by: amgfnyc

I know of this group because they, like we at NFSAW, rescue a lot of dogs from groups in Tennessee that are overrun. ROAR is a wonderful group. I have never personally visited their facility, but I have heard that it is quite modern and attractive. We are hoping to visit there soon to get ideas for improvements that we could incorporate at our own shelter!

    Pros

    wonderful facility

    Cons

    none!

This is a very new shelter to the area. I work with one of their volunteers and know that they do wonderful work for the pets in their care. They also have innovative fundraisers. I've brainstormed with him a couple times to share fundraising ideas.

  • 6. We LOVE ROAR

    by: deanawehr

ROAR has helped our shelter for about 3 years and has rescued a lot of animals from our shelter that would have otherwise been euthanized for room. They always send us updates when animals they pull from us get adopted and always taken whenever they can, they are easy to work w/ and do a great job @ finding their animals wonderful homes! They normally help the larger black dogs and have a great success @ finding them homes!

    Pros

Excellent @ finding homeless pets a home

    Cons

    wish they were closer

My fiance and I went to ROAR looking for a puppy. We ended up adopting from DAWS, but we thought it was a great place. It is another great program saving innocent dogs and puppies from being put down and finding them loving homes.

    Friendly and clean

  • 10. ROAR - young but highly effective!

    by: KathCT

ROAR is a fairly new organization but has already accomplished so much in Ridgefield. They have a lovely, clean new shelter to house animals while they wait for adoption. They help many dogs find homes that would otherwise be euthanized, and encourage families to adopt rather than purchase their pets. But ROAR not only focuses on homeless animals, but also tries to improve the lives of all pets in the community. One of their first big accomplishments was getting land and building "The Bark Park" off-leash dog park in the middle of Ridgefield. ROAR has a great reputation and lots of support from Ridgefielders.

    Pros

a strong voice for animals in Ridgefield

    Cons

    can't think of any

    Cons

    I wish it were larger

  • 12. Support your local shelter

    by: Meezie

ROAR is a shelter close to DAWS in the neighboring town of Ridgefield. I hear great things about this shelter and am happy when anyone adopts vs. buys. Keep up the good work, ROAR!

    Pros

Another CT shelter doing great work

    Cons

    None that I've found!

  • 13. Nice volunteers

    by: monkymom

When looking for a new pet ROAR was one of the shelters I visited. The volunteers are very friendly and they have a nice clean shelter. I would still recommend that people check out the animals at ROAR - even though it wasn't the place my girl kitty came from.

    Pros

    Friendly people

    Cons

    none
