  • 1. great shelter

    by: jschlapi

I've seen many of the animals from there and they seem very well taken care of. What I really like about this shelter is the fact that they have many programs to help adopters.

    Pros

    very nice with their animals

    Cons

    can't think of any

  • 2. Another excellent Chicago organization

    by: kimberlimhh

I love that this shelter is a no-kill shelter. I love that they have large, open rooms for animals so that they aren't all relegated to cages. Not every shelter has that luxury and this is a good place to be able to do it. This is just one of the many Chicago organizations that has animals at its heart and in their hearts. Bravo, PAWS Chicago!

    Pros

    Good people and good facility

    Cons

    None!

  • 3. Needs to Promote Pet Overpopulation Message in Shelter

    by: Bellacat3

I visited PAWS Chicago's new shelter in the spring of 2008. Although I liked the concept of a cage-free animal shelter, I didn't like the result. It is difficult for visitors to interact with the animals - the majority of them were snoozing anyway. In a traditional shelter, you can hear, smell, touch, and make eye contact with individual animals. And it is far from disease free! Ill animals are housed in another location. Just be aware that more is going on than meets the eyes. I think they are doing wonderful things for Chicago and homeless pets overall. However, it presents a false picture to the public of what a shelter should be like. There are many decent animal shelters in the area that may not have a picture perfect shelter but they do care about the animals in their care. Adopt from an organization because they treat you right and have the best animal for your family.

    Pros

very popular shelter with lots of funds, good public appeal, transfers pets from kill facilities

    Cons

lack of educational info at the shelter, small facility, no parking

  • 4. Outstanding Organization

    by: JoanneSchoch

We visited PAWS of Chicago quite some time ago and were very impressed with their philosophy and dedication to their mission. They have made excellent use of the opportunities available to them and are making a difference in their community and the attitudes towards homeless pets. They were very generous with their time and resources and we have made a wonderful friend there.

    Pros

Dedication to mission and forward thinking.

    Cons

    None that I saw.

  • 9. top of the line facility

    by: kimcobb

This is like the cream of the crop for homeless animals. The standard that all others should aspire to. The dogs have plenty of room, and it seems that the shelter has plenty of money and wants for nothing. Too bad all shelters everywhere aren't so lucky.

    Pros

    like the perfect place

    Cons

    none

  • 10. Great Facility!

    by: arsenal101

My 2 cats and dog have been spay/neutered here...and I also bring them to the 26th street location to get their shots. The staff has always been super nice, and attentive. When my dog Thor got neutered here, I went in asked for my dog...the Vet heard his name and said " Oh I will bring him out, he is such a wonderful boy, but he misses you so much, I took extra care of him"!! Which made me feel a whole lot better, because I felt really guilty about leaving him there all day long. Its nice and clean, and I highly recommend this place!

    Pros

CLose to my house, Inexpensive spay/neuter services...

    Cons

    none

    Cons

  • 13. Extremely helpful

    by: tdudis

This shelter has graciously accepted our cats from central Illinois on more than one occasion. We live in a very rural, very poor, very sparesely populated part of the state and if it werent for groups like Paw Chicago, our animals would be put down rather than finding their perfect forever home. Thanks Paws Chicago!

    Pros

This is a no-kill shelter, Has large cat rooms

    Cons

  • 15. Love Paws

    by: Loripoohbear48

Last year I delivered about 14 cats to this rescue. We got there and we went to the front door and the doors were locked. We called our boss and she said that she would give the lady a call and see what was going on. We got a call back and we were at the wrong door.DUH! It was around the corner. Anyway we finally got in brought all the cats upstairs. And these people have got to be the cleanest facility I have ever seen. All of the cat rooms have buckets that you have to step in before you go into the rooms to clean your shoes and you have to step in again when you come out. They really believe in not spreading viruses to other animals. I love it and the staff there was very nice and cooperative. A+ for this group.

    Pros

    clean

    Cons

    hard to find

  • 16. They're making a difference!!

    by: ympina

This review is about the new Pippen Fasseas Adoption Center on the north side of Chicago, 1997 N Clybourn, Chicago, IL.\n\nThe facility is amazing, clean, welcoming and cage free!! The dogs are walked at least 3 times a day, the cats have constant company and volunteers to play with.\n\nYou can not relinquish pets at this facility - their intake office is at their 26th street location. PAWS does not accept strays off the street and regularly pull animals from Animal Care and Control.\n\nI admire all the work they are doing in Chicago and will continue to support PAWS Chicago as a donor and volunteer.\n\n

    Pros

    Fabulous cage free adoption center!

    Cons

    Can't think of any....
