  • 1. Wonderful Shelter!

    by: Melliespunk

I was a volunteer dog walker at this shelter. The animals are treated with the utmost respect and kindness, love and care. The shelter is right on Route 46 and we walked the dogs up the road to the pond area which was beautiful, but the traffic going by was a challenge and a little intimidating. The animals are well cared for at Noah's Ark and everyone works toward the same goal--helping the animals. I recommend Noah's Ark on regular basis.

    Pros

No kill, loves the animals, thoughtful/thorough adoptions

    Cons

on a main road, not enough property

  • 2. Caring staff

    by: Margarel

Noah's Ark is a very caring shelter that does not put animals to sleep so they are ok in my book! They've been around forever, I only wish they had better property. They are on a very busy road and don't have a lot of property. But they do the best with what they have and are dedicated to finding animals new and loving homes. Great people.

    Pros

    No kill shelter

    Cons

    Bad location

  • 3. A variety of animals for adoption

    by: MTrezza

Have seen quite a bit of problem dogs adopted out to families with children.

    Pros

Can adopt both dogs and cats

    Cons

    No clear temperament evaluations done

  • 4. Good People

    by: Maddiemoney

I have met several people from Noah's Ark including staff and board members and know they care deeply for the animals in their care and are always striving to learn and do more.

    Pros

    Great People doing hard work

    Cons

    none

  • 5. Great little shelter

    by: sparky72

This is my local shelter. They are no kill which is great but also limits what they can take in. I've seen this shelter improve greatly over the last few years. It use to be dumpy but looks much nicer and cleaner from the outside now. They are on a quite a busy road which could be dangerous if a dog got loose.

    Pros

Doing a lot with a little

    Cons

    In a bad location

  • 6. Very nice shelter

    by: mookienon

If Noah's gets the million dollar make over, maybe they will get different housing for their cats. I like their kennel with the heated floors., I am sure the dogs appriciated this in the winter time.

    Pros

    They have plenty of help

    Cons

I didn't like all the cats together

  • 7. Noah's Ark is a great shelter

    by: shimadab

I volunteer with NA, and everyone there is so kind and genuinely cares about the animals. I can't imagine a better shelter.

    Pros

Staff is very caring and knowlegeable. If there is ever a problem, they are on it immediately.

    Cons

Boy is it hard to make a left turn out of the parking lot!

  • 8. Noah's Ark is a great place, with great people!

    by: LAKESIDEPET

I recently met and started working with (volunteering for) the folks and pets at Noah's Ark. What GREAT, honest and beautiful people they all seem to be, and what a GREAT & loving cause. It's a wonderful way to help spread the love and to "give something back" to the many animals who need us, as well as the community.\r\n\r\nI am proud and honored to be welcomed to the (volunteering) team, with such kind and open arms.\r\n\r\nThank You, Noah's Ark!!! ;-)\r\n\r\nScott DeMayo\r\nA-1 LAKESIDE PET SERVICES\r\n(Pet Sitting & Dog Walking)\r\nwww.LAKESIDEPET.com

    Pros

Very nice, caring people and wide selection of dogs & cats.

    Cons

After helping thousands of pets and people over many years, a newer and larger facility could help a lot more.

    by: sunsett76

Noah's Ark is a wonderful place filled not only with wonderful animals, but people as well. You can tell they want the best for the animals and always have their best interests in mind. My family adopted a lab mix there back in the 70's when I was a child. It only made sense to me as an adult to travel from PA to NJ to adopt my furry family member from them. While there I adopted "Moe" (whose name 5 years later is "Roscoe"), he is a wonderful black lab mix. My parents joined my husband and I on this excursion and also adopted a dog "Alfonso" (now "Weezer"). We could not be happier.\r\nMy husband and I eventually moved to SC and decided to adopt a friend for Roscoe...(these we adopted from a high kill shelter in SC) in the end we now have 6 dogs!!! All different ages, all different breeds.\r\nI have yet to meet a staff more knowledgeable than Noah's Ark, Northern NJ is lucky to have them around.

    Pros

Staff loves animals and it shows. Always busy interacting with the animals and potential adopters

    Cons

    facility is very small

  • 10. Great Place

    by: WeLuvLucy

We adopted our rotti mix puppy Lucy from Noah's Ark 3 months ago. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Thank you, Noah's Ark!

    Pros

    Helpful staff, business hours

    Cons

Not really a con, but, my 16 yr. old son wants to volunteer, but must be 18 years old to work with animals (which is understandable)

  • 12. WE LOVE THEM! & JOEY!

JOEY AND NOAHS ARK IS ONE OF THE BEST! THEY HAVE RESCUED ANIMALS FROM DEATH FROM OUR SHELTER FOR YEARS NOW AND WE LOVE THEM! • 14. Impressed

    by: Shellita1

I adopted my cat 14 years ago and was attracted to the one I chose...not because of its color, or name, or size, but because of 2 written descriptions under his name....Huggable, Mr. personality.\r\nEach cat there had something positive written about it in addition to it's name, age, breed; as did the dogs as well.\r\nThat was a great business maneuver on their part to get those animals adopted! I have not seen that at any other shelter since!

    Pros

    friendly, businesslike

    Cons

    small, crowded at times
