  • 1. My dog loves daycare!!

    by: jlmbennis

Our dog, a havanese named Juke, has been going to daycare at Morris Animal Inn since he was a puppy (he is almost 4 now) and he LOVES it! It is a wonderful place!! Saying "wanna go to daycare, wanna play with the puppies?" gets the same response as saying "want a cookie?". It's hysterical- he gets so excited. He loves playing with the other dogs- and he is always in a group play with other dogs his size. The staff has made us feel welcome and comfortable since the first day he went to day care, and now he gets greeted by name as soon as we walk in the door! It is comforting to see the longevity in the staff- the same people are there, who get to know the dogs who attend daycare. Juke is genuinely happy to say hello to the staff when we arrive. He goes to the prom every year- it is fantastic! All of the themed parties are wonderful as well. It is obvious that there is a genuine love of animals here, and a genuine sense of caring for every dog that comes to daycare. Juke is my 3rd child :) and I actually feel a sense of security knowing how well he will be cared for while at the Morris Animal Inn. The only caveat, in my opinion, is he comes home needing a bath, kind of like your kids needing a shower after a softball or baseball game. LOL I keep him really clean, he doesn't have fur (he has hair) and the reason we got a havanese is because of allergies/asthma in our house. So, needless to say, after playing outside, with other dogs (some who do have fur and do shed) he is messy- and sometimes smells like pee. I must say, I very frequently book him for an economy bath and teeth brushing and the grooming staff at Morris Animal Inn is excellent! He comes home smelling and looking great! They also do a conditioning coat called Healthy Coat which I have found to be beneficial for Juke. He tends to have allergies/itchy skin and after this treatment he doesn't scratch for days. (Vet recommended frequent bathing would help Juke) Overall, I can't say enough wonderful things about day care here! As soon as we are on the road approaching the Inn, Juke already knows where we are and starts looking out the window and making all kinds of whining noises. He can't get out of the car quick enough and in to the building, he is so excited! It's really funny. If we are home and say we are going to daycare he runs to where we keep his leash and harness for riding in the car (it's how he gets buckled to the seatbelt). Juke knows he loves it there and that he is loved there. :)

    Pros

Friendly, kind staff- all get to know every regular dog by name

    Cons

I wish he was clean when I picked him up

  • 2. Morris Animal Inn Review

    by: murtage

Our dog, Hershey, had visited a couple of different kennels before we found the Morris Animal Inn. It is great that we found this place! Although we do not like to be away from Hershey, we feel comfortable leaving him here because of the professionalism and different options available. Every time we go there to drop him off, the staff get quite excited to see him (because they remember him and he is a very sociable dog). It seems to me that the staff are warm and welcoming to each and every pet that comes in through those doors - regardless of their size, age, color, or type. I think it's great that there are so many options available to us to pick for our dog. For example, there is a tuck-in service that they provide. Hershey hates to be away from our family, so we really appreciate it that they take the time to tuck him in and make sure he falls asleep comforted (not scared). Also, for dogs who like water, there is a swimming pool option, as well as an "aqua-massage" option. Like I said, so many options to choose from! Please see their website for more information. Also, I'd like to mention that the facilities are clean, spacious, well maintained, and designed/set up efficiently. In conclusion, I strongly recommend the Morris Animal Inn. This is the only kennel that our precious pooch will ever board at! Although it might be more expensive than some other kennels, the personalized care and attention given to each pet, the facilities, the professionalism, and the options make it worth your money. Do you want to board your pet and have no worries? Do you want to feel good about the kennel you sent your dog/cat to? Then check out the Morris Animal Inn. http://www.morrisanimalinn.com/index.asp I strongly recommend it. You and your pet will both be happy with the decision!

    by: ShellyMoms

Shelly has borded in other kennels but came home and needed to sleep for 3 days to recover from the overstimulation. With the individual boarding options that MAI offers, she eats better and is calmer each time she is there. The care givers also note the changes in her behavior and report back to us upon pickup,

    Pros

    Cons

    more expensive than other options

  • 4. The BEST!

    by: ThreeTerriersNJ

We have been bringing our dogs here for over 15 years! They provide comprehensive, caring service. Our dogs are always actually happy to go (and they're very spoiled at home). They really love it at Morris Animal Inn. We bring them there for all their grooming as well. It is the only area kennel my vet recommends, and after checking others out I can understand why. They insist no having u to date medical records for your pet (and if you're a regular & the records need updating, they are actually proactive & contact your vet & get the records updated before you even arrive! Now that's service! It also protects your pet in that they won't catch anything from the other dogs.

    Pros

Clean, friendly staff, every amenity imaginable

    Cons

A little pricey, but worth the money!

  • 5. Exceptional Kennel!

    by: BuudysPal

I have been a client for years and trust the staff at Morris Animal Inn explicitly. My dog is truly my companion. It is so important that I am certain that he is well cared for when I travel. The staff is exceptional and the Inn is spotless. Don't let the size fool you. You will feel like you are their only client. No matter how long Buddy's stay is, he is a happy camper when he comes home. I highly recommend Morris Animal Inn!

  • 6. Vacation for Shadow

    by: ecoethos

Shadow is a large lab that is very protective of me and barks at any new face or other dog. When I dropped him off he was hesitant to leave my side and sat down and wouldn't move. But much like when you first drop your kids off at nursery school the attendant spoke to him in soft kind words and as soon as I left the main room he went with her with no trouble. When I picked him up he was fine. I had him groomed on the last day and they did a great job. He came out happy, shiny and the second time I took him he gave them absolutely no trouble going to his kennel. I love the place but I just wish the extras weren't so expensive. I try to give my dog a the best time while he's there but it adds up quickly.

    Pros

    Friendly & Caring

    Cons

    Extras expensive

  • 7. Too wonderful for words!

    by: Cherylgould

I have been a client of Morris Animal Inn for over 10 years. I went there after being disappointed with several other facilities. At the time, my dog was a big, healthy four year old guy. He loved going there and I never worried about him. As he aged and his health declined, Morris Animal Inn was there for me and for him. One amazing event really stands out-he had a sudden, dramatic change in condition (difficulty walking, vertigo, etc) and I was out of town. They drove him to my vet (40 miles away) and then to the emergency clinic. When I spoke to the vets, they both said that they were "totally amazed" by the knowledge of the Morris staff; the staff member "knew more about your dog, than most owners know". When I got my new dog, one of the first things I did was book time for her at Morris Animal Inn. I just wish they were closer to my home; I would love to take her to all the special events! While the facility is beautiful, it is the people who really make the place so special. If you want a place that will take care of your pet as well, maybe even better :), than you do, this is the place! My vet and I joke that we hope Morris Animal Inn will let us move in there someday!!!

  • 8. Fantastic boarding & grooming

    by: Lwirsing

I have brought my dog Jake for boarding and grooming from the time he was 6 months old until now he is 2 years old. When we pull into the driveway of Morris Animal Inn, he is so excited to be there. The landscape is beautiful and well-maintained. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive to our needs. They make our lives just a little better. I highly recommend the Morris Animal Inn for all your pets needs.

    Pros

    Reliable, trustworthy, professional

    Cons

A little pricy, but worth it.

    by: sully610

I bring my dog to the Morris Animal Inn, often, for group day care and boarding. My dog loves the people and the services! She always comes home happy and exhausted from having so much fun. I cannot say enough about the staff at the Morris Animal Inn. They absolutely love my dog and take care of her so well. The staff has also gone above and beyond for me - there have been a couple of occasions where I was a few minutes late (after closing) but a staff member stayed the extra minutes and let me pick up my dog. I highly recommend this facility. I take my dog to all of the events and camps. She loves it!

    by: morgan0320

My husband and I have boarded our dog Morgan here quite often over the past two years and have always had a pleasant experience. While we are traveling they provide us with updates on how Morgan is doing and give us a full report when we pick him up. Morgan is always excited to go when we walk through the door. We have also used the daycare service and participated in their "special events" for the dogs. We again have no complaints. Everyone on the staff is pleasant and friendly. We wouldn't leave Morgan anywhere else.

    Pros

Great service, awesome staff, happy Dog

    Cons

  • 12. Fabulous Facility and Staff!

    by: dega9

While the cost may seem expensive at first, the facility and staff make penny worth it!! We have been looking for a new boarding facility for our two dogs that made them happy and us. Some facilities are cold, impersonal, do not have enough staff or offer enough options to keep my dogs occupied. The Morris Animal Inn has everything! I was greatly impressed with the staff and how attentive they were towards my dogs. They are both very high energy and need constant interaction. The staff is just so wonderful - they didn't seem to be fazed by my two very active dogs!! And the facility is spotless, which is very rare for a boarding facility. The add on menu is a bonus - especially for dogs who like the water. We will be repeat clients!

We have a Boston Terrier who is full of energy. The people at Morris Animal Inn always group our dog with the right playmates for group play. She always comes home tired, but not exhausted. We really like the verbal reports of her day when we pick her up.

  • 14. Can't blame someone for being exclusive

    by: janice1

This was the first time I was leaving my puppy and it was very hard for me. I was able to check in on her every day for an update. They gave her lots of attention and she did great. I feel better knowing I am leaving her in good hands and she will get the attention and love she deserves at the Morris Animal Inn. Sure, they can be particular about the dogs they take in, but don't you want to bring your dog to a place where that matters?

    Pros

Very dog friendly, clean, nice atmosphere.

    Cons

Do offleash outside play area or runner

Our cat Leeloo absolutely loves getting groomed at the Morris Animal Inn. We moved from Los Angeles to Morris Plains and at first had a very hard time finding a place to take Leeloo for her monthly grooming...after a few unsuccessfull tries at other groomers, we finally found it: The Morris Animal Inn!

    Pros

    Very good with cats

    Cons

    by: lauraP1729

I was so happy to find Morristown Animal Inn. I have had bad luck in boarding my dog in that he always comes back sick! I had no problems with his boarding at Morristown Animal Inn. The staff was friendly and helpful. They were able to fill me in on my dog's stay and made it personal for him. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog there and I definitely will again!

    Pros

    friendly staff, great accommodatins

    Cons

  • 17. Milo loved it there

    by: poopydoo

This was Milo's first time boarding. He is not an outdoor type. He prefers the comforts a bed and a sofa. A regular kennel just wan't going to cut it. He does like to go out, but only to do his business and to play. He prefers to relax indoors. The staff was kind enough to upgrade Milo to a suite and there he had a nicer accomodation with an upgraded bed. I did however have to pay extra for "business" walks and play time with other dogs, but I felt it was important for him to relieve himself outdoors and to have play time with other dogs to relieve his boredom. I know he missed us and we missed him but we were able to enjoy our trip to Jamaica knowing that Milo was safe and well cared for. He came home clean and fine and wasn't acting wierd or anything like some dogs who get traumatized do, so I will board him there again next year when we go away again.

    Pros

    Well cared for

    Cons

    pricey

    by: wardt1

We have a new puppy and we were very concerned about leaving him for 6 days, but the staff came out and took him and he never looked back. Staff was extremley friendly and clearly loves dogs. I called after a couple of days and was able to get the person who was looking after my dog and they gave a complete "run down" on everything he was doing, eating, exercising..... He was happy to see us when we picked him up and again got a full report on his stay, He adjusted back home as if he was not even away. I would highly recommend the Morris Animal Inn to anyone wanting to leave their pet for an extended period without having to worry about them. I felt very confident he was in goods hands with people who love dogs and know how to handle them.

    by: macfam53

My dog Logan has been groomed and boarded at this facility . The staff is always friendly and listens to my requests. Logan has recently become a Diabetic and needed frequent walks even guring grooming sessions. They accomodated all his needs. I think their rates are fair. Do they offer extras?? Of course but so do other facilities. And if someone wants to go cheap with their pet, Iam sure you can find some place but why would you want to take a chance that your pet could be harmed. A very long time ago I went to a facility and asked to see their kennels before I boarded and they refused. I never went there but later learned there were several lawsuits against this place for unusual dog deaths. Go to a place you can trust. Morris Animal Inn is just that.

    Pros

I can't say enough great things about MAI. They have taken exceptional care of my 14 year old dog. I was disappointed when they stated charging for heating up his food that I cook. He doesn't eat kibble so there is no choice. But otherwise they are EXCELLENT. Kim is the best!

  • 23. Almost Home!

    by: snowDOGflyer

For well over 20 years, we have used no other facility other than Morris Animal Inn for both boarding and grooming. We have visited others but always find them to be too "mom & pop" which by itself can be good, except the ratios of care takers to guests is not making me feel my dog is getting "special" treatment I know he gets at Morris Animal Inn....when he comes home, we need to wean him off being spoiled, but we miss him every moment we are not with him on our vacation and we are comforted knowing there will be someone looking at him and paying attention to him often. He loves to listen when you speak with him so we also buy in to the philosophy of having someone read to him at night and we are always happy to hear how much he loves it. We know it, we watch his face as we speak with him always and love that about him. These dogs give us so much for so little in return and if we can help it, we always bring him with us on vacation or travelling - but it is such a priviledge to be a client at Morris Animal Inn that I find it distasteful for others who dismiss this facility and company as high priced and factually, it is relative priced to filthy, home style facilities where you hear horror stories and my dog is worth any difference or at the very least, my diligent selection of the best possible facility. I also use the best Veterinary care available as I would hope we all do for our pets.

    Pros

Ratio of people to guests is at the industry's highest standard. No one is neglected and subtle behavior is noted and addressed, always. The quality of the people is highest standards also, judging by consistency of thoughtfulness and concern of all of the subtle and unique concerns of us clients and our dogs. The people are not over worked but work hard and clearly all buy in to providing amazing service to exceed customer and dog expectations. The cleanliness of the bright, attentive staff reflects the cleanliness of the amazingly well over engineered facility. Imagine a power outage or severe storm while your pet is staying over - - well this facility not only has superior power backup but insulates HVAC by boarding areas to minimize cross contamination. All of this is indicative of what a 'world class' boarding facility is if a dog could design their own - - and I suppose a cat would do something very much like the amazing 'cat houses' visible from the lobby.

    Cons

    no video monitoring

  • 24. A Longtime Satisfied Customer

    by: LButler

We have been taking our dogs (and cat) to Morris Animal Inn for six years and have always appreciated their combination of professionalism and warmth. We have lived all over the U.S. and have experienced many types of boarding facilities and Morris Animal Inn is at the top of the list. (And, speaking of lists, my groomer recently told me that MAI was listed as #3 in the state of NJ.) My pets have always been in good spirits when picked up, which is how I judge a facility. I like the "verbal report card" they give when a pet is picked up . . . and I can tell they keep good records because they are able to reference how a visit compared to a previous visit. The facility itself is beautiful and check-in is a breeze . . . the fastest I've ever encountered. As far as their prices are concerned, I believe they are in line with other fine boarding facilities. It's true that boarding prices have soared over the years, but I personally can't put a price on the peace of mind I experience from knowing my pets are well-cared for while I am away.

    Pros

    Worry-free vacations

    by: ShelbyPat

I have known the folks who operate Morris Animal Inn for 40 years and watched their family-run animal care business grow and prosper. They truly set the standard for top quality pet care. I have used them for boarding, grooming, dog training and daycare. They are excellent on all fronts. Other pet care operators from around the country have visited Morris Animal Inn to study their methods and operation. They were perhaps the first in the nation to offer 5-star, luxury facilities, and today they have many imitators. Morris Animal Inn seem to hire only people who truly love animals and everyone there takes pride in their work. I don't know of any other place that compares. I have recommended them to many, many friends and everyone has been very pleased.

    Pros

    Cleanliness; Individual Attention

    by: browne3

We recently adopted a dog from another family and needed to board him right away. Since the dog had been at another kennel we thought we would use it. well, no way went there and all we smelled was urine. So we went tot he Morris Animal Inn and took a tour. Clean, friendly and not as expensive as I thought. Reality was it was less expensive than the other kennel as a result of the Inn's check out policy of no charge for the day until1PM as opposed to the other kennel's policy of charge at mid-night for each day. Now we have used the Animal Inn at least 6 times int he last 8 months and it has been great and the dog loves it. Every time he goes he cannot wait to go in. Sometime s we walk by and he wants to go down the driveway for a visit!!

  • 27. Pet Perfection

    by: rdietz07

My sister and her boyfriend went away one weekend and found this inn for dogs. They said it was perfect, expensive, but the place is like a palace for pets. I never believed them. The day they were coming back from their vacation, I had to pick up the dog from the inn. The second I saw the exterior of this pet mansion, I wanted to move in. I walked through the doors and found the inside to be even more delightful. Normally, when you go to a pet inn they ask for your name when you arrive so they can give you your animal. When I walked in, they asked what the dog's name was. I was so pleased that they put the dog before myself. It's always a pleasure to find that people treat animals well. My sister's dog was brought up in an abuse home until she rescued him, so to my surprise, when they walked him out of the door, he had been groomed. With this dog, the groomer is sure to have been doomed to a fate worse than death; but instead they said how wonderful he was, how there were no problems. He went from shaggy to snazzy in 3 days. I was even able to pick him up and put him in the car without him growling. I'm sure my sister will never take him to petsmart or petco to get him groomed again, and I KNOW that she will always take her dog (now 2 dogs!) to the Morris Animal Inn. The Pet Paradise. Great job, guys. You deserve all the praise in the world!

    Pros

Great staff, excellent facilities, loving to ALL animals

up til last year we would never had even thought about goiong on vacation without Foster, our Australian Terrier. However, after recently having a child the burden was just too great. We spent alot of time looking about for a facility we could trust with our dog. Morris Animal Inn came recommended from our local vet so we took a ride over there to see the facility before agreeing to place him anywhere. The facility is beautiful and located in a gorgeous part of town. The staff was very happy to provide a tour and we enoyed what we saw. The pricing may seem a bit high but since everything is ala carte its easy to stay within budget. Upon pickup Foster was happy and healthy which is all we could ask for.

  • 30. My dogs love it here!

    by: lovestoski

This is the only pet day care/boarding facility that my dogs are happy to go to. They actually pull me in the door with tails wagging excitedly rather than trying to run back to the car. If the dogs are happy, I am very happy! The staff here has always been very attentive. When I pick up the dogs, they always take the time to let me know what the dogs did that day in a very personable way. It is obvious that they actually interact and play with the dogs. (Unlike other facilities where a staff member just stands in a pen full dogs). The pool at Morris Animal Inn is a great feature. My lab LOVES it! She gets bored with kiddie pools. This pool is deep enough so that she can actually swim. Staff members toss toys in the pool for her, and she jumps in after them. She swims to the steps, climbs out, drops the toy off at the counselor's feet, and runs around to the other side, eagerly awaiting the next toy toss. She comes home happy and tired. My other dog prefers to explore on his own. The staff take him on long walks around the beautfiful campus. I like that the activities can be tailored to the individual dogs. I highly recommend Morris Animal Inn.

    by: keebmann

I use Morris Animal Inn for all of my dog boarding and grooming needs. My girlfriend and I rescued a small abused dog from a nearby rescue. He's our baby! He has improved a lot, but has had a lot of aggression issues. He is no longer allowed in Petsmart or Petco for grooming because they don't feel comfortable with him. After going to a few different places, Morris Animal Inn really stood out. After taking the tour, we both really got the sense that they cared about us and our pets. We gave them all of the information about our dog and even scheduled a consultation with a trainer at the facility. They felt confident, making us feel extremely confident. We scheduled an overnight just to make sure he was going to be alright before we had to board him for when we went on vacation. He was treated extremely well and we made our final decision to use Morris Animal Inn. We even had him groomed towards the end of his stay. He looked incredible, much better than any other place we were thrown out of before. Originally, we were more hesitant about the price of the services, but found that they were competitive with others around the area. They also have many promotions (which is usually when we bring our baby in) to keep the price down. While they offer MANY different amenities, I never feel obligated to pay for them. They simply ask. All in all, we love Morris Animal Inn. We won't take our baby anywhere else. They treat him well and we trust them.

    Pros

great facility, friendly staff, neat grooming, and affordable promotions

    Cons

The themed promotions sometimes make me sick (but I'm a guy)

I just want to say, we got a new puppy and 2 weeks later had to go away for the weekend. My vet believe it or not referred me to Morris Animal Inn. Typically they do not refer. Obviously I went online when I got home and impressed by the website, I called. They were most respectful, kind and caring, keeping my puppy in mind. Will I say its a little pricey, yes of course but will I say I bring my puppy there again - absolutely YES! Loved everything from start to end :)

    by: Kimberlyann1969

I was very nervous about boarding my dog. he was a rescue and didn't want him to feel like we were leaving him in the cold pound where his previous owners left him. I was very comfortable leaving him at Morris Animal Inn, There is a warm comfortable feeling, feels more like a hotel then a boarding facility. I will continue to board my dog here for every trip that we take. My only concern is that they are a little pricey when you start adding on additional amenities, but I want my little boy to have fun and enjoy his time away from us rather than feeling abandoned so I do add on some extra's. I wish more of the small extras were included in the basic price of the stay.

    Pros

Friendly Staff & Owners live on site

    Cons

    Pricy

  • 36. My Dogs love this place!

    by: Carlylc

My dogs absolutely love this place and so do I. i would trust no other place to take care of my dogs while i am away. My labrador literally does not care to say good bye to us and goes running in with the staff and when we pick him up he comes out smiling! My other dog is kind of shy and a little timid and he also has a great time there. They say he is a very sweet boy and just lvoes to cuddled and pet and they attend to his needs as well. My labrador also has an allergy and they always take very good care of his condition. i have boarded my dogs for long and short stays and they are always well cared for. They call you if there is a problem and you can call them to check in anytime and they call you right back. They have a great facility and my dogs love to go swimming and get groomed. My dogs are like my children and i feel very safe leaving them there knowing they are well cared for. I have looked into other places but have found none that are of the caliber like Morris Animal Inn. I will send my dogs nowhere else.

    by: riordak

I felt very at ease leaving my dog there, as I have done so twice in the previous three weeks. The customer service is very thorough and attentive. The facility is top notch; it is essentially a vacation for pets. For a basic overnight stay ("checkout" is before 1:00pm--though upon arriving at 2:00pm, the nice lady working there waived the additonal $45 fee..thankfully) it is $45. I had zero problems, and will continue to board here.

    by: toshisan

I have taken by precious baby here since he was a small puppy (2007!). He started off in the puppy steps for when I had to board him for an extended period of time and then on to the group play daycare once that started! He has always been treated as "family" and everyone there is knowledgeable of pets and treats him with care. If you haven't seen Morris Animal Inn, please call for a tour because you will be pleased with the cleaniness, friendliness and many options for your pet . They have both daycare (private or group) and boarding. I commend the Morris family on creating such a wonderful family facility where pet owners can leave their pets without worry. I recently added to our family with a shelter rescue that is older and they have been working with us to help her to become socialized. They are very accomodating, even with last minute request. I wouldn't trust my pets anywhere else.

Dasiy is a well behaved Beagle Lab mix who is 4 years old. She usually stresses out about staying overnight with her mommy and daddy and sister but when we take her to Morris Animal Inn for overnight stays she jumps in the car very willingly and seems very happy when we pick her up. Very relaxed. We've never had any problem here. Very professional.

    Pros

    Cons

    by: sammytay

I rescued my King Charles/Pekingese mix in December of 2009. He, after facing some serious prior abuse, had some aggression issues. Petsmart grooming salon would not allow him to be groomed with them. Because of a bite history it was nearly impossible for me to find a groomer for Michael. Then, I found Morris Animal Inn. They understand that a dog is a dog and you need to be sensitive to their needs. They do an amazing job grooming him and it's the one place he feels comfortable without me being there. I even left him for a long weekend with their prince package. It was like a 5 star vacation for him. I would, and do, reccomend Morris Animal Inn to any petowners. It's incredible.

    Pros

Experience, They Care About The Animals, Professionalism

    Cons

A little pricey but worth it!

    by: PrincessMR

I have been using Morris Animal Inn for several years now and would not leave my dog anywhere else. She’s well cared for when I’m away and I love the way they groom her. I know she doesn’t always cooperate for her haircut (she’s a wiggly Pomeranian), but they manage to make her look beautiful every time and trim her face just the way I like it! The staff are knowledgeable and caring which gives me such peace of mind. And to top it all off, they have the greatest themed parties; my dog has been to a Halloween party, a Back to School Party and even a Prom! I have wonderful memories of these which they captured in photos. All in all, I heartily recommend Morris Animal Inn!

    professional, caring and competant

  • 42. This Place Makes Me Sick

    by: Luulamax

I'm originally from Upstate New York but My mom and I had a wedding to attend in New Jersey. (where she is originally from) My mom wanted to board my dog, Maxwell, where we were staying in Jersey so that we could easily pick him up. (If we boarded him in NY, we would have to worry about picking him up on time.) Maxwell does very well in car rides and he loves them so we weren't worried about the trip down. Now, my dog is naturally very hyper. He is a Parson Russell Terrier and hyperactivity and a dominant personality is typical for the breed. My mom reinforced this idea on the phone with the employees of Morris Animal Inn. When we got to the facility, we brought Maxwell in and naturally he was nervous and defensive. We signed in and Maxwell was whimpering a little bit (which he does every time he goes to be boarded.) The employees greeted us but what they did next was really not smart and unprofessional. Even after telling them about his demeanor, they swarmed around him and lets just say Max freaked. He started barking and even though he's a small dog (25 lbs) his bark is quite loud. He was even smaller then because he was barely a year old. The employees immediately freaked out and were trying to plan out how they were possibly going to take him in. It took them twenty minutes and a very frightened employee to get him into the kennel. (Which there is no need for. Max is more chilled out when he's not by us.) They showed us the facility and tried to reassure us about his visit. We had paid the *extra fee* for Max to run around outside. He's an active dog and needs the stimulation. He usually goes to Doggy Day Care back home and does very well with the employees there as well as the other dogs. So, My mom and I went to the wedding but wound up having to pick Max up after an morning call at the hotel that we should pick Max up early. We were only able to spend a couple hours with our much missed family before being forced to leave. We arrived at Morris Animal Inn for pick up. They basically told us to never board with them again and suggested that the reason why Maxwell was so 'unruly' was because of the long car ride...the same car ride that he really enjoyed. He was never allowed out of his kennel even though we paid for him to be let out. His body was covered in poo and pee stains and we pretty much got a rude goodbye. The only nice staff member, was this girl that came out with some washcloths and cleaning things to get the stains off of him. She was very nice and I can't remember her name (This was almost two years ago.) Never again will I ever consider boarding my dog here. Even if they didn't practically kick him out. These people are unprofessional and not trained enough to handle all breeds and mannerisms. Any where else Max has been boarded..they have been able to take him in without fear, despite his barking. They've been able to take him out and they are not afraid of them. So obviously these people are inept at pet care. They're pricey, They rip you off, Unprofessional, All business no care, They only care for your pets if you hand over more money. The only good thing about this place is how beautiful the facility is. Alas the beauty does not overshadow the poor attitude.

    by: HBailey

I just love this place and I'm waiting for when I can check myself in along with my dog. They have a base fee and then you can add additional activity levels for your pet. They even have a pool. These levels get more expensive but it is a great comfort to know exactly how much fun your dog is having when your're away. I also like hearing their reports about how my pet did during his stay. Overall I would recommend this facility to anyone and will continue to use it.

    Pros

    Wonderful Facility and staff

    Cons

  • 45. Expensive!

    by: nickmac4

I guess you get what you pay for. Who wouldn't like to have their pet pampered while you were away? The rub is that every little detail is taxed- bring your own food, a treat, a book read, 15 min run ( not allowed to run with other dogs) ...$$$... an overnight begins simply as a $35 (ish) stay, but once you add on the extras, you are looking at $100. I love my dog, but...

    by: attidogs

This is a money making operation that is trying to give the impression that this is a pet hotel, preying on the guilt for leaving our "babies". Sigh - They even advertise now they have a spa. We're just not into buying everything for our them a la cart when a good kennel should be expected to do some of these things as a part of their caring service. The real kicker was we'd have to PAY them to pet our dogs!!! Our dogs are beloved DOGS. Our dogs did not have access to outdoor runs and would be forced to relieve themselves in their cages, unless of course we bought short walks. They sell everything from spring water to special beds, to video access and busy bones to night time snacks, to name a few. We did not see nearly the level of care we've had at other kennels. On the other hand - all is computerized and appears to be state of the art - if you need to spend money to feel you are doing what's best for your animal, then go for it.

  • 60. Best Pet Resort!

    by: agk275

Staff is great! My dog always comes home happy and tired because the staff pays a lot of attention to the animals. They cater to your pet's every need and will even send you report cards daily if you want to know how your pet is doing. My dog loves to return - he cannot wait to get out of the car when we arrive. Morris Animal Inn is very accommodating and I know my dog will be well-cared for; he never comes home with neurotic behaviors as you would find if boarded in a regular kennel. My dog got dirty in playgroup during his last stay so they bathed him free of charge! I appreciate the attention to detail. I never take my dog anywhere else and ignore the cost of the stay because it is well worth the piece of mind that my dog is going to come home happy.

    by: BarbaraRushman

I've gotten into using a dog sitter, but my have boarded my dogs here. It is an awesome place with everything you could ask for. But it is pricy...everything is an add on. If you want your dogs to have medicine or be on the food you bring or get play time, it is extra $. The basic fee is high and the add on's make it more expensive. They are so happy to see the staff there that you know they are in good hands!! MAI ROCKS

    Pros

personal attention that is unbeatable and fun, fun, fun for the Inn's guests--always feel very comfortable knowing they are enjoying their time with a staff that truly loves what they do. Sometimes I've been away and realized the accommodations my dogs were in surpassed where I was staying!!

    Cons

Your dogs might be kind of "bummed" to be missing all the amenities--like flavor of the month stuffed treats every afternoon--when they first arrive back home.

  • 77. Cat Hotel

    by: tchristina10

We drop our cats off here every vacation. In fact we commute 45 minutes to drop them off here. We tried a few places in NY City but they were so small, stuffy, and cats were meowing all the time with little attention from the staff. This place is so different! It is literally like sending the cats to a farm. The cages are larger, they have fish tanks and play time. The staff remembers the cats and seem really into the animals.

    Pros

    Great facility.

    Cons

    Busy.

    by: Animalrights13

I used to work at Morris Animal Inn and saw what went on behind the scenes, alot of the employees were extremely rough with the dogs and many dogs would sit in kennels with poop all day... would be much nicer if they had a staff big enough to take care of the amount of animals they house!

    Pros

    Large dog suites

    Cons

    Nasty employees

  • 79. Nice Upscale Boarding Facility

    by: Cupcake

This is a lovely facility with large sleeping quarters and runs. They are very clean but are all indoors. They customize to each animal and even have a swimming pool. Baily my friends lab adored it. I worry though about small dogs falling into larger dogs runs because they are housed about 5 feet above them. I have never experienced anything bad. It would worry me, but on the other hand it was nice to see that smaller dogs were not housed next to large dogs to keep their stress level down.

    Pros

    Large customized set up

    Cons

Animals do not have a run to outside
