I used to walk dogs here when I was in high school down the street. The people who work/volunteer at the shelter are very caring.

A very small shelter built in 1980, the building is now crumbling, but the animals still receive the best of care thanks to non-profit group Milton Animal League. Many dogs and cats up for adoption of all sizes, ages, and breeds, with the occasional rabbit or other small animal. All adopters are screened, and volunteers try to make sure the adoption is the best match between animal and adopter. All animals have their vaccinations and are spayed/neutered and assessed for temperament, the adoption fees are very reasonable. I have adopted 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 rabbits over the years from this shelter. They definitely suffer from a lack of volunteers, but the volunteers that are there are extremely committed to the animals. This shelter does not have a "time limit", adoptable animals are kept until they find a home.

knowledgeable volunteer staff, animals well cared for, all animals vaccinated and spayed/neutered

    small building, overextended volunteers

The Milton Animal Shelter is a wonderful institution simply in need of a makeover. Run mostly by volunteers, the shelter is located on a fairly large plot of land. If the shelter had enough funds, they could make proper use of the land available. Right now, the land is not kept well and the outdoor fences are unstable. The inside of the shelter also has potential, but is very cramped and slightly worn down. Some people don't adopt from this shelter simply because they are turned off by the appearance. As a weekly volunteer, I have become quite attached to the friendly animals, and really wish that they could have more land and better facilities to stay in. All this shelter needs is a physical makeover! PLEASE HELP THE ANIMALS! =]

Great staff/volunteers, wide selection of animals, land with potential to be great for animals

Small facilities in need of makeover, cramped quarters, gravel parking lot, old building
