I go here with my family, or friends, and we always bring our dogs for lunch and a hike. I go here quite often, and strongly recomend this to people who live in CT.

    Its a lot of fun

    Cons

    none

This is a great place to take a hike,or just stop and have your lunch. The downside is you cannot camp with your dog because it's a Ct. state park. Camping is a family activity, dogs are part of the family.

    Pros

Good for day hikes, close to my house

    Cons

    no dogs for camping

This is a really beautiful park. The loop is big enough to spend a good part of the day there, but you can also choose shorter routes, but still take advantage of fabulous views from the top of Cobble Mountain. Note that dogs must be on leash, and that dogs are not allowed to stay there in campgrounds...so by dark, you have to be out of there if you have a dog. Also, there is one short section (on the map online, this area is marked green on the western side of Macedonia Brook Rd.) that has a couple of steps up a steep incline so if your dog cannot get up steep areas, that part may be tough -- but it can easily be avoided if you want to go around it. If you and your dog like hiking, I highly recommend this park.

    Pros

    Beautiful hiking area

    Cons

Dogs NOT allowed to stay in campgrounds
