My dog has been to Love Pet Hospital three times, and each time has been a postive experience. The staff is very friendly and Dr. Wisbrock spent a good amount of time answering questions and giving me information when I first adopted my puppy. We've only been there for annual shots, so I can't comment on their alternative practices (ie accuputure, herbs, etc.). Though, my dog gets very frightened at the vet and they gave him some calming drops and instantly he was relaxed and didn't even flinch during his rabies vaccine. I have no idea what's in those drops but they are amazing.

I must say, I had a bad experience with Dr. Love and her clinic. Jasper was having some trouble (what we eventually learned was a wheat allergy) and I was searching for answers with different vets. When I moved to South Austin, I tried Dr. Love. She treated me like I was a terrible pet owner - despite the fact that I was taking Jasper everywhere to try to take care of him. I was not feeding him organic food and not giving him massages to help alleviate his suffering.\nAre you kidding? He is a dog. And she gets love, treats, four walks a day and is more spoiled than most children. I was really offended.\nShe tried to put him on Chinese herbs and, though I would NEVER usually do this, I obliged because she made me feel so bad. Jasper hated them, and they did not work. \nHe is on a traditional treatment now and has never been happier. I will not go back to Dr. Love, nor recommend her to anyone.

I feel like I'm really taking care of my dog when we go to Love Pet Hospital. The vets are very knowledgeable, the staff is very friendly and the array of services offered is vast. \nAccupuncture, massage and herbal treatments for your pet make this place an Austin-bonified place. They do offer traditional services as well, and are not prejudiced towards either method. \nI remember once instance; I was rushing to pick up Tremont before they closed. I had gotten caught at work and just couldn't afford the $30 overnight fee at that point. I called the office and let them know I was running late but that I was doing my best to make it. About 2 minutes later, I got a call from the vet. She told me not to rush, Dr. Love was going to wave the overnight fee; she didn't want me to get in an accident on the way there. I was so grateful and relieved I nearly started crying. True human interaction and customer service are so rare these days.

Friendly staff, lots of appointment times, alternative treatments offered

    Pricey, sometimes inconvient hours

My Alaskan Malamute recently had to have surgery. I had just moved to south Austin and was looking for a vet. Love Pet was recommended because Dr Love (yes, there is one!) uses alternative methods such as acupuncture and chiropractic. My dog ended up needing regular school medicine, but got excellent care. We went back in for a check-up since he was gnawing at one of his wounds and Dr Wisbrod could not have been more helpful.\n\n

Nice facility, friendly staff, knowledgeable vet

    could have more flexible hours
